Dummies Guide to Upgrading?

I'm a complete n00b to all things Supercard, so would really appreciate a step-by-step guide to upgrading my firmware and anything else that will help solve this problem: Some ROMs load absolutely fine (eg, New Super Mario Bros, Sonic Rush), but others just serve up a double white screen (eg, Hotel Dusk, Bust-A-Move).

I am using Supercard SD (this one), and have replaced my ndsrominfo.dat with the latest database for the SuperCardsd.exe conversion program on my computer, so I'm happy that things are okay in this regard.

However, I've also downloaded Firmware v1.7 (sd_170.bin) from the official website but there are no instructions on what to do with this file. Where do I put it, and do I then need to take any further action once it's there?

I would ask on the official forum, but from reading a few threads on there they don't appear as helpful as the members here. Somebody please spell it out in layman's terms for me! :?

Welcome to SCdev.org!

1) Copy the sd_170.bin update file to your Supercard SD
2) Run the sd_170.bin file and don't turn off DS during update
3) Delete sd_170.bin file

Make sure you download and install the latest Windows ROM patching software . . .

Double click the ROMs in the patcher menu and select the correct options . . .

That's brilliant, thank you so much! I can finally get the most out of my Supercard! :D
