Does anyone know if I can walk in off the street and buy a Supercard SD anywhere from Buffalo, NY to Hamilton, Ontario? I'm looking to pick some up avoiding mail and hopefully for cheaper than the standard $45.

I don't think you'll find any of these homebrew solutions offline except for the Datel products, which are not recommended.  You're gonna have to use an online shop, sorry.
