DS Lite 'flashme' - still the same procedure?

Probably a daft question, but thought I better ask anyway...my friend has just imported an Ice Blue DS Lite from Japan, and I'm just wondering whether anything has changed in terms of flashing?  Ie, have Nintendo implemented any kind of 'anti-flash' system, or are things exactly as they were?
I'm only asking because I don't want to screw up her brand new DS!  Don't get me wrong, I've got no problems with flashing DS's - I've done around 10 so far with no bricking/problems, but as hers is new/imported I wan't sure whether anything had changed...

cheers guys

It's pretty much the same, and the sticker is gone now, but you must make sure you're shorting the correct contact, as shorting the wrong one will make the DS turn off.  DS Lites also have a tendency to turn off in the middle of flashing for no given reason when shorting the correct contact, though if you've gotten at least 5% of the flashing process done, you should be able to use the emergency recovery mode in order to run flashme.nds again.

Brilliant, cheers Dan!  That's all I needed to know ;-)

Time to dig out the old tinfoil-covered toothpick!

Try to insulate everything except the tip, as that reportedly helps prevent it from turning off.  Tepples recommends the ends of two bent paperclips taped together with Scotch tape, but I haven't tried it myself.  I've also heard that keeping a steady connection once the progress meter starts going up is a good idea.

If you flash with the latest FlashMe v8a, it will beep at you to indicate when the meter is going up, which is a nice feature.

New flashme has sound warnings if progress bar is running or stoped.. so you can easly concentrate on keeping the shorting wright !!
