can you run snesds on the supercard slot-1. i downloaded it and it gave me bin files. i renamed the bin file to an nds extention and got two white screens.

You must create a nds rom from using the executable file it came with. The instructions are right here: http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/SNES_DS.

Although personally, I like SNEmulDS instead.

masterX

is sneemulds the fastest one?

cabbage

Well I don't know if its the fastest, but it goes at normal speed for all games I have ever tried out.

masterX

i just tried running SNEemulds and it told me to put the roms in the /SNES/ directory. i did so and it still isnt detecting them do i have to patch it with something called dldi?

cabbage

Yeah, you have to patch the nds file with dldi. I just installed this program called DLDIrc, which allowed me to just right click to patch it.

masterX

Yep i managed it. thanks alot for the help. Gotta love snes.

cabbage

No problem. But be warned, some games are a little glitchy, yet not glitchy enough from preventing me to enjoy the game. :)

Here's how to use SNES DS on slot-1 devices:

1.  Go to the SNES DS homepage and download the first main link to get the main files you will need. Then download the 11-27 version and copy the snesds.bin file from there into the main folder, overwriting the one that's already in there.
2.  Download ndstool and place it in the same directory.
3.  Go to http://www.pocketheaven.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=3366 and get the latest SuperDAT and place it in the main folder.
4.  Run make_nds.bat and add 1 small game.  Only one, and it has to have a small filesize (less than 3 MB max). Super Mario World is known to work, if you want to test.
5.  Save it as snesDS.ds.gba (the default name) and it will automatically create snesDS.nds as well.
6.  Copy the *.nds file to your card and run it

It's important to note that the final filesize must be less than 4 MB. This is because when you make a build with make_nds.bat, the entire SNES DS compilation will be loaded into the DS's 4 MB of RAM. This means that larger games like the DKC series and Chrono Trigger simply won't work.  If you use a slot-2 device with GBA compatibility, you can run snesDS.exe directly, renaming the output file from .ds.gba to .nds, which will allow you to use compilations up to 32 MB in size.

I've made something of a tutorial video at http://dannysied.googlepages.com/SNES_DS_tutorial.wmv if it helps at all. The steps I follow should theoretically allow for functional usage on the DS-X.

However, I would highly recommend using SNEmulDS instead, as it's less hassle and has greater compatibility and more options.  If you find a game you can't play in SNEmulDS, then try SNES DS, but I don't think there are too many games that are like that.

I have a slot 2 device (Supercard + super card ds lite) and you said up to 32mb? So would chrono trigger run then? Mainly I would like that and super mario rpg. How would I go about getting any of these to run on a slot 2 card?

I have tried some stuff myself but never got an success.

While technically SNES DS would load the games, neither of them will function correctly.  For instance, Chrono Trigger simply doesn't work in SNES DS even if it's hacked to boot somewhat, and Super Mario RPG has an additional coprocessor chip that is 3 times faster than the SNES CPU itself, so no emulator for the GBA/DS currently supports it.  For other, larger games like DKC and DKC2, you can just run snesDS.exe directly, adding up to 32 MB of roms, renaming the output file from snesDS.ds.gba to snesDS.nds so that the Supercard will launch it in DS mode.

However, you can use SNEmulDS to run Chrono Trigger fairly smoothly.  You can also use SnezziDS v0.28a if you would like, in which the graphics look better, but the sound is more garbled.  Try both to see which one you can stand more.

With SNEmulDS, change the options according to http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/SNEmulDS_Compatibility_list and keep in mind that you may need to change these during gameplay.  See the "additional notes" section of that article for details.  With SnezziDS, press L+R+Select+Up a few times during gameplay until the graphics look correct.
