Pokemon Pearl Backup Save & ROM Compatibilty

So I backed-up my Pokemon Pearl save from my cartridge to my supercard using rein r17 and then tried to load the save by renaming something.nds.sav and renaming the rom something.nds.dsq but when I try to load something.nds.dsq I get a white screen. Am I doing anything wrong?
