OK, I've had the above flash cart and max media launcher for a while now.
I recently saw that 4gb and 8gb Sd's are on sale on Ebay (don't know how I missed them till now.), I was going to buy one, but I couldn't decide if it would work with my flash.

so here I am with the following questions:

A) will these work with my flash cart?
and
B) are there any compatibility problems I should know about?

I'm obviously leaning more towards the 8gb, as I love having all  my games collected on one Sd, rather than carrying all my carts around with me. I hope the above aren't silly questions, but I figured it would be smarter to check before investing in to one then not being able to use it.

I will thank you in advanced for any help or information you have to offer.

Slot-2 Supercards can only handle the FAT16 filesystem format, which is bound to either 4 GB or 2 GB, can't really remember.  However, SD cards larger than 2 GB use a special addressing system that the Supercard is unlikely to support.  See the Wikipedia article on Secure Digital for more information regarding this.

I'd say that you should probably stick with 2 GB cards for the time being.

that's what I figured, but then I found this......

"I had a 4 gigabyte sd card that I wanted to use with Supercard for my DS. But then I remembered it had to be fat16 which is limited to 2 gigabytes (correct me if im wrong..)

Anyway I was under the impression that there was nothing I could do. I did some research and I stumbled apone this little piece of software from HP that allowed me to convert my 4 gb SD to fat while keeping the same capacity. Not sure how or why but it worked with supercard so thats all that matters.

So is this known information or did I do the impossible? :D

Heres the software I used to do it

hp format software

Just thought I should spread the information..."

which led me to wonder if this actually worked, as I have no means to test it.

anything above 2gb are classed as sdhc (i believe) which use a different addressing method for that amount of memory. i'm not sure sdhc cards work in a non-sdhc device.

also be careful with ebay, i've seen some 8gb sandisk branded cards (non sdhc) which sandisk claim do not actually exist!

I've been using a standard (not sdhc) 4 Gb for over a year on my supercard.

Hi

Quote from: "richardv"I've been using a standard (not sdhc) 4 Gb for over a year on my supercard.

Could you give me some info on how you do this? I want to use a 4gb sd card I have on my scsd.

Is it the way that youngishben discribed or do you have some other meathod.

I just formatted with a command prompt.
format F: /fs:fat
where F is your drive letter for the sd card.
It will ask if you are sure you want to override. say yes.

Hi

I-CAN-DO-THAT... I hope.

Listen, I'm willing to try, but it will be the first time in my life I have ever used the command prompt. Is their anything I should know first?
