i'm having trouble deciding which one to get.  the x-mod says 512megabits. whats that in megabytes?

SuperCard
1. Is the slowdown that bad as people say it is?
2. is it compatible with newer gba titles? (is it true the software is constantly being updated?

X-mod
3.  does it play the same types of games as the SuperCard (GB, GBA, PCE, SMS/GG and hombrew)?

4.  is there any slowdown?
5.  is the cart glued together or screwed on? if it's glued together, would it
be hard to remove if you're changing the battery?

6.  is it compatible with more titles than the supercard?
7.  on the easybuy2000 site, it lists it as $69. is that cdn currency?

kraken

512 Megabits is 64 Megabytes.  Thats enough to store a single large DS game or around 2-6 GBA games.  Thats pathetic IMHO and the main reason why I like supercard.

SuperCard
1. Is the slowdown that bad as people say it is?

Yes and no.  I have played around 10 GBA games on it and the slowdown make Sigma Star Saga unplayable, but I didn't notice it in any of the others.

2. is it compatible with newer gba titles? (is it true the software is constantly being updated?

Yes.  The newest update was last friday, so it is being constantly updated.   On the GBA side there isn't much to do as there isn't any new protection that stops games from working and the slowdown is a hardware issue mainly.

X-mod
3. does it play the same types of games as the SuperCard (GB, GBA, PCE, SMS/GG and hombrew)?

Yes.  Im not terrably familiar with that cart but the NES/GB/PCE, etc. emus that the supercard used are all freeware.  In the supercard they are integrated so that you only need to put the rom and the card and play.  I would assume that the X-mod you would have to build your own GBA rom with the emus and roms together and flash it.

4. is there any slowdown?
Probably not
5. is the cart glued together or screwed on? if it's glued together, would it
be hard to remove if you're changing the battery?

no clue

6. is it compatible with more titles than the supercard?

probably

7. on the easybuy2000 site, it lists it as $69. is that cdn currency?

its probably USD, but it should say somewhere on the site.

alright thanks, kraken! i guess ill get the supercard then. CF or SD? i have a couple of CF cards from my digicam but is the sd version better or the same?

when you say x-mod, are you talking about x-rom 512?  it's a good card for the games that don't work properly on supercard.  I got one just for that purpose. but supercard is still my favourite.  i use x-rom for mario games and advance wars 2, and kingdom hearts (slows down during battles on supercard)...  but it's still just an 'extra' cart.  supercard rocks

The X-Rom 512mbit on easybuy is listed in US Dollars. It's a solid flash cart and works very well. I've never had a problem with any GBA rom on my X-Rom cartridge. No slowdowns or save problems at all. Again, it's a great GBA flash cartridge, but because of the cost, you may consider getting the M3 as it uses CF/SD flash cards and also have good support for NDS games. X-Rom can only be used with NDSPatchered ROMs which isn't perfect.

But just for GBA, X-Rom is a nice regular flash cart. Just remember you need a GBA or GBASP with the link port to flash the cartridge as the X-Rom uses a GBA to USB sort of linker cable to flash the cartridge.
