Total noob at this stuff.

Got my card/ds about a month ago and pretty sure I already have 1.7. But need to know step by step what to do to upgrade everything to the newest firmware/software.  Went to sc main page and got setupmicrosdV260en.zip and microsd_eng_181.rar but I have no idea what to do with them and dont want to try anything till I know for sure.

Thanks for any help

First of all, ensure that you do indeed have 1.7.  Turn on your DS with L+R held and press A a few times until it tells you the firmware.  Upgrading from 1.63 to 1.8 has proven to be disastrous, so make sure you upgrade to 1.7 first.

To update the firmware, simply put the new *.bin or *.scu file on your card and launch it like a GBA/DS game.  Follow the instructions and it will be updated within a minute or two.  To install the new patcher, simply extract the contents of the zip file and launch setup.exe.

just unpack 181.rar file and put the update .bin file on the root of your mem card... tip backup your present games/saves to PC and give your mem card a fresh full FAT format, it will save any weird problems occuring

then boot your SC in gba mode (hold select on boot up if you have flashme installed) and run the bin file.. and obviously make sure you have plenty of battery and do not interrupt the update... once done you can delete the file.

as for the client software, just run the installer as always on your PC

yeh with the 1.80 update you need to be at 1.7... but since the new 1.81 is a whole flash and not just an update it should work from any version... but it's better to be safe than sorry and do it from 1.7 anyway
