lol... gonna get one in a month (bothering my mom in Hong Kong for about tow months now) :P

The GP2X is good for homebrew and I collect gadgets so If I could get one I would. There's also a PSX emu for it

The PSP community is way larger though: 25 000 000 vs 50 000.

On Altor's comments:

1) Hacking a PSP is quite easy. Very similar to flashing a DS without the pin shorting. With the PSP you just have to make sure you have the right revision(older is better).

2) For the GP2X they made the odd decision to use AA batteries and as long as you use good rechargeable AA batteries you'll be all good.

3) Though the company structure is different this is actually their second system. These same guys made the GP32, so they aren't all that likely to disappear.

4) There are a few commercial titles, but that's not what you buy a GP2X for, you're right. If you're not in it for homebrew and emulators, it offers you nothing.

5) Accessories? There's a TV out cable. That's all I can think of off-hand.

6) The GP2X has no networking at all.

7) It has never refused to play a video for me but I haven't tried every video I have either. If a new DivX comes out I suppose it won't play it. The firmware is open-source, though, so someone could theoretically add support for it. Otherwise you'd have to convert it. I'm sure it's also not going to play HD video so you'd have to convert that down too. It's better to have it play "a lot" of videos unconverted than it is to play "no" videos unconverted. :)

8) Pretty much the same emulators are on the GP2X as the PSP. As far as homebrew games I think the PSP has more, but they both have quite a few.

jaki_kisur: Yes, there a PS1 emulator, but nothing is going to beat the emulator in the PSP.

Are you way rich?  I remember asking my mom for a DS a while back when she was in Hong Kong, and she didn't get it....  You're asking for 2.  :(

Vapourstreak

Nppe.  But we only went there once, so we're obessed with the cheap prices, so I can buy almost anything I want

Heh. Just watch out for the Sorny brand PSP and the Gympark GP2X. :)

I hope my mom's smarter than that because I sent her an email with the correct spelling of the companies.  Let's hope she remembers

This thing does look pretty cool. But really, it kind of seems like a PSP to me. And since I mainly use my PSP for emulators, I don't see really what this would do for me.

I'll wait to see what really becomes of it before I consider getting one.
