Hello!

I got a Supercard CF and, despite it being really old, I think it work really well. But I gave it to a friend for two weeks, and the cards came back in a pretty bad state... so bad it won't work anymore.

First, there was "something" stuck in one hole of the CF card, and the plastic around the hole was a little bit... messy. I managed to get the "thing" out of the hole. The card now fit in the card reader (it wouldn't with the thing in the hole), but my computer won't read it anymore. Here is a picture of the "destroyed hole":



Second, one pin in the Supercard was bent. I managed to move it back, but it still won't read the card (when the CF is inserted, the DS won't detect the Supercard at all). But when I don't put anything in it, it start normally with the error message ("the CF is not found..."). I don't have another CF to test if it's only the CF that is broken or the Supercard too. (I haven't managed to take a good picture of the pins in the Supercard).

My warranty at Gamersection just finished, so the only option I got is to try to repair it... Where should I start? ^^"

FIRSTLY I would of beaten so called friend to death with CF card .... and second friend or no friend I would ask them to replace it as you lent it to them in good faith and trust

what was stuck in the hole was it metallic ?! .....it may of caused some issues if its something thats broken off your friends card reader or whatever .. it may still have debris still in the hole thats stopping it working

I would also ask what did they do to it to damage it like that .. it looks like its been forced into a card reader with quite some force or put into the reader badly or the wrong way up (or is the damage around the hole what happened trying to remove the object stuck in the hole !?)

What was stuck in the hole was the plastic that used to be around the hole (you can see in the picture that it have been quite damaged). I think it broke when he forced it in a wrong way into the Supercard CF (since one pin was bent inside the Supercard...).

To remove the plastic inside the hole, I used a small pin. But I only removed what was on the surface. Maybe there is something deeper in the hole that is stopping it working?

Is there a way I could remove something stuck deeper in that hole? I tried to open the CF card, but couldn't find a way to do it without destroying it...

If there was a bent pin in the supercard I would consider that more of an issue as it could of damaged your supercard

Im sure the guys on here that have used or still use CF supercards can maby advise you more about this issue but I wouldnt advise trying to push anything else into the hole at this minute until you get more advice

Second: I'm thinking about making her pay, but she's a little short on money and she swear to have been taking care of the card (I doubt it a little, since it came back in a pretty bad state...).

So, any idea on how I could try to save this poor CF?

Just spend the money on a new device. The new devices have better features and are well worth the money. Hell, you can get an N-Card clone with 2GB of space for under 50 bucks!

This is the first thing I would of done too, You should buy or borrow an other CF card

Another comment such as the one that got deleted HurricaneGame and you will be banned. Anyone else making anymore comments remotely similar will be banned aswell. That was an absolutely uncalled for comment and comments and people like that will not be allowed here.

Help the guy try to fix his card but stay off the BS comments or this thread will be closed and people will be shown the door.

Gamersection accepted to take it back even if my warranty is finished. Hope I will receive a replacement. Since I recently won a M3 Simply, I would have 2 flashcards and only one DS!! :O
