Hi guys,

The only way I succeded tolaunch picodrive 1.7 (with DLDI) was throught
DSorganize 2.5, otherwise I got white screen. But the games are played slow , very slow.

Is there another genesis/mega drive emulator for DS ?
maybe there is another way to launch it ?

There are no other working Genesis emulators for the DS.  The only other one that exists runs at about 1 fps, if that.  And the reason it won't launch is because no program compiled with the latest r20 release of DevKitPRO will launch on Rumble cards.

I have rumble cards here but as above it will not work ... my resolve is using my dedicated GBA flash card my beloved ezflash 3 card for genesis and gameboy emulaton stuff :)

GBA flash cards are pretty cheap now anyway for 1gb or smaller cards if your hell bent on getting genesis stuff etc working or maby sell the rumble card and get a slot 1 card or a proper supercard with the needed ram :)

Hi sallaboy,

Have you upgraded the supercard firmware to 1.81? I found that with the fix this version provides, more homebrew boot properly from the supercard menu, including all versions of SNemulDS. I use supercard rumble too.

Just to make you know,

Best regards,
Juliobbv

thanks guys.

to juliobbv: with the new firmware, can you launch picodrive
without any homebrew ? (like DSOrganize, mooshell )
Does it work smoothly or a little bit slow ?

I'm a little bit afraid to install new firmware because my current works fine ...

thanks in advance,
Sallaboy

Even with the update it wont work as you dont have any extra ram in the RUMBLE thats needed for picodrive

What?  PicoDriveDS shouldn't require any extra RAM.  Are you sure about that?

I just launched PicoDriveDS, chose my Sonic game, and then ejected the Supercard.  It still ran perfectly.  (on a side note, this same principle can be done for SNEmulDS as well with smaller games).

PicoDriveDS runs without sound and is slow, but it's still usable.

Hi sallaboy,

I ran picodrive succesfully with dsorganize 2.7 and the supercard menu and both ran at the same speed. So using a different loader doesn't change the speed.

Looking at the official blog, it appears that extra RAM is only needed to load games larger than 3 MB.  Smaller than that and it should work on a Rumble.

sallaboy

thanks guys. I understood that games run slow on picodrive.
is there any development on this emu ?

dantheman

The latest version is from February, but I don't know if the guy is still working on it or not.
