I believe umd games are region free but the umd movies are region locked.

Hollywood is convinced that if Europeans and Japanese people were to import American movies willy-nilly it would bring about the apocalypse. Therefore the studios will not release movies on a format that does not have region protection. This is why the PSP and PS3 have region codes for movies but not games.

I have a Japanese PSP and once you switch it to English it is hard to tell it's not an American PSP so long as you don't try to play a UMD movie.

if you could somehow load the 3.40 OE-A firmware, i believe it can remove the Region Lock...

though, why watch movies on UMD when you can just put it on your memory stick? :/

Yeah, I have OE firmware and I don't even know if I can play US UMD movies or not. Heheh.

i believe i saw it on the Recovery Menu...

hold R when you boot it up, it offers Region Lock as one of the features... or Region change? whatever...
