What's the compatibility like on either?

Are saves easy to set up?

Which is the best card to get.

Thanks

Between the two, I would definitely say go with the DsOne. It's one of my favorite carts, and I use it way more than the R4. That cart barely ever gets used anymore.

And compatibility is excellent on both carts. As long as you have a Japan made microsd, you won't run into a game that won't run at full speed.

But anyways, the reason I say go with the DsOne is because it has a couple great features. There's the GBA Union, Realtime Guide, and Realtime Cheats. I know R4 tried realtime cheats with one of their updates, but it never worked. I'm not sure if they have gotten it to work at all. But I have the latest loader on my R4, and I didn't read about any update for the cheat system.

So, the features alone are a good reason to get the DsOne. And yes, the saves are a breeze to get working. You can either download a database list and put it on your microsd, or just use Patch mode(which you'll need for soft reset, cheats, etc.), and it auto selects the save size for you. Although...it didn't pick the right one for PoR or DoS. But it certainly wasn't hard to change the save size to 64kb. So don't worry about the save system, it's a breeze. I was worried about this before I bought one, but I ended up really liking it.

But in all honesty, it really doesn't matter what slot 1 you go for. They all do the main thing that you want, and that is play games. And they all do it very well. Just some have a couple features that the other doesn't. So you won't be disappointed with whatever one you go with.

Thanks h8uthemost

Now to find the best price on the DSONE for the UK.

I thought about KickTrading at about £30 But that is at the curent exchange rate, NOT PayPals, and I may get stung for VAT.

I could get it from SuperCard Store, (Have bought a few Slot 2 Off Chris In The Past) and and all have been 100% Mostly Next Day. £36 (If I remember Corectly)

All the cards I use Are Toshiba SD-CO1G Or Kingston Equivelant.  Although I have just ordered a 2Gb Kingston.

Thanks Again For Your Help. Will Go with a DS-One (They can only get better)

Is the list of save sizes I need to put on the card, on the SC Site?

Cheers

I'm not exactly sure about that, I don't own a Supercard Lite.

But...the download for the saver size database is on this page. Also, DealExtreme have the DsOne's for $39. And they have free shipping, so you can't beat that. You can find it here. They also have it bundled with a 1GB Kingston Japan, but since you got a 2GB Kingston coming, you probably won't need it.

I personally always buy from Realhotstuff. I think they're the best site to buy from. They have the quickest shipping I've ever came across. I think they ship globally, but their shipping isn't free.

In all honesty, I would go for the R4 in your situation.  The Supercard DS ONE has an amazing menu and great features.  However, it is a little bit hard to use.  The manuals on the net were written with terrible English and it took me quite a while to figure out what exactly was wrong with my cheat files and my text files.  I am still finishing up my review for this cart.

Because of the questions you have asked, it leads me to believe that you aren't too experienced with flash carts.  With that in mind, the R4 is much easier to use, and also has some unique features over the Supercard DS ONE.

Personally, I would recommend the Supercard DS ONE only to users that have already been in the scene for a little while, have a little experience with flash carts, and most importantly can use it to its full potential.

Yeah, Pharaoh definitely is right about that. The R4 is probably the easiest slot 1 to use. There's no picking save size, and no patch mode. And it's easier to compile your own cheats for the R4 also.

So actually, I'll have to agree with his recommendation. If you are totally new to flash carts, the R4 would be the easier to use. I still stand by what I said though, and that is I think the DsOne is definitely the better flash cart of the two. But I didn't take into account that the cart may be a little overwhelming for a new comer. It's not like you have to have a masters degree to figure out how to work the cart though. But I just don't want you to come back screaming at me because you think you should have gone with the R4 instead, for its ease of use.

Just read through some reviews on the two. You'll get a better understanding of both that way.

Thanks for the reply.

I did have the DSONE for a few days, but some of the games would not work properly, and it put me off, as my LITE rumble worked flawlesly.

I have been messing with (TRUE) computers since the ZX-81 so not scared of the learning curve.

Just hope that ALL the gemes run as well as they do on my Lite Rumble.  All I use are JAP Toshiba & Kingstom Memory.

Thanks Again for all you help, and time you spent answering my question.

No problem.

And were you using the v1 DsOne? Maybe that's why some games wouldn't run. I heard those were horrible. I never owned one, so I can't comment on it myself. But I"m using v2, with a Japan made Nokia 1GB, and every game runs beautifully.

All I really know is that it was in the new packaging.. I do know the firmware was earlier.

Just really want the same number of games to run correctly as on the DSLITE Rumble. In fact I'm quite looking forward to the tinkering, and messing with realtime cheats (Not having to reset to turn them off, induvidually)

Not to mention the Browser.

Thanks So Much fo reassuring me.

The browser will not work for you unfortunately because the SC Rumble does not have any usable RAM for the browser to use.  You can still use the homebrew browser in DSOrganize however.

Mikeypr

Oh Well. It only would have been a bit of a novelty.

Thanks For The Heads Up.

I have also just seen that a firmware update is out today, that fixes some issues with the DSOne.  So now I have no real reason not to get one.

Thanks For THe Reply
