Parallel batteries?

I got the idea of using my spare battery and main battery together with a parallel connection to get double lifetime. Since it gives the same voltage, I thought it might work.
Would it be possible to charge both at the same time?  Does any of you have any experience with this?

*Four days later*Don't you people think this was a good idea ???

Only thing I've ever done like that was simply cutting off the end of a DS car charger and hooking it up to a 4-AA battery compartment bought at Radioshack.  A set of 4 AAs provides at least 2 recharges, and it's portable enough to take with you.  Would probably be easier than figuring out how to do parallel batteries.

alternatively he could also BUY A BIGGER CAPACITY BATTERY lol ....I think and agree with Dan here that messing about would be too much hassle along with the fact that things like this tend to GO WRONG they tend to go wrong in dramatically big ways like a potentially busted ds!

Except that the bigger capacity batteries usually have the exact same amount of battery life, or even less, if rumor is to be believed.  It's best to go with official Nintendo batteries in this case.

It worked perfectly :)
The metal plates on the batteries were very easy to solder on.
Charging also works without any problems.

So if you have a spare battery, then give it a try  ;)

that looks pretty scary .... my thoughts are the additional battery is NOT going to drain at an equal rate as the one actually in the DS

Secondy the exposed connectors on  the palm of your hand when charging may cause your palm to suffer a nasty Electric shock! they would have to be covered pretty well to avoid this :)

but KUDOS getting it working without your hand blowing off :)

I did some more work on it after I took the pictures. I would say it's not going to blow like they are now. I put some tape on it to cover the cords which may have short curcuited. I would say that my blown fuses(f1 and f2) should be replaced now, though :)

Glad it worked, but that looks a bit too dodgy for my liking, I like the AA charger idea
