How does this option work? Do I trim the ROM before I convert with SC software or afterwards? Does it support zip?

Was wondering the same thing? Saw it but wasnt sure what it was for?

Compression only works for the GBA titles.. If you turn it on, the outputted SC compatible file should be smaller than the original.

So, for example, "Mario Party" (Picked at random) is a 8Mbyte game.. But the SC version is down to 7megs because of the 'compression'.. The amount of compression you get is dependant on the title and content of the game.

But basically, using the compression option will mean that you will get roughly 20% more games on the SD or CF card.

However, for the NDS it doesnt' do anything.. At 32m original, comes out at 32meg.. There is NO reduction in size.. If the NDS roms worked like the GBA (i.e they get loaded from the CF to the SC) then there is a chance that compression could be supported.

But with the new method of running NDS games (i.e straight from the CF/SD), there is no chance that compression will be supported for NDS stuff.

I hope this helps

hmm, I think if u want to make the files smaller, u can try trimming with the gba tool.

The compression seems to compress games you can trim more than others so I'd say it takes care of it - and saves a bit more space too :-)
