i know this has been discussed before, but a friend of mine just pointed out to me this
http://ipodlinux.org/Igpsp its the gba emu on the psp ported to the ipod nano. so if an ipod nano can run a gba emu, in theory couldnt the nds run one as well? because isnt the nds more powerful than the ipod nano? please dont flame me, as i dont know much technicaly about the nds but i was just wondering if we could be closer to a gba emulator

ipod cpu: dual 80mhz embedded
ipod ram: 32mb

and even then it only runs at around 50% speed

the other issue is that a lot of current hardware is too slow - gba requires faster reads than ds

Emulation is never a perfect substitute for actual hardware.  The DS contains the actual GBA hardware, so it's extremely unlikely any homebrew developer will spend hours and hours coding a GBA emulator when the DS already plays GBA games.

If the reasoning behind your post is to be able to play GBA games from a slot 1 cart, just pick up the inexpensive EZ 3n1 slot 2 device and your problem is solved.

do they have the ez 3 in 1 for the ds phat? and exactly how much is it and does it work with the m3 simply?

Check RealHotStuff.  They have the phat-sized version and list the price.  And yes, aside from the EZ-V itself, the 3in1 works best with an R4 or M3 Simply.
