iq_123 has updated his M3 Simply/R4 firmware exchanger to include the new 1.11 R4 firmware. It is now possible to run the 1.11 R4 firmware on the M3 Simply. Check the readme.txt for instructions.

What is the purpose of this?
R4DS and M3DSS use more or less the same firmwares, but they are region and manufacturer
locked -- meaning that if you use M3DSS firmware on R4DS hardware it won't work, or if you
use English firmware on Chinese Hardware, it won't work.
My program patches these firmwares so that they can run on whatever you patch them for.

What are the risks?
There are none that I know of.  No one has reported any problems and there is no
way a patched _DS_MENU can do any >>permanent<< damage to your card. If your DS
displays any error messages, simply delete the _DS_MENU.DAT and _DS_MENU.SYS (if
it exists), and put your old firmware back on.  The worst-case scenario is that
your Micro SD will be corrupted, so always be sure to backup anything important
before you upgrade (even if you're using official software).

Added R4 1.11 to database

how to use it....

1. Put your _DS_MENU.DAT into the same directory (folder) as the program and
   run the program.

2. The program will display the firmware type, revision and CRC32 of the
   _DS_MENU.DAT you are working with.

3. The first thing it asks you is "This file is meant for use with XX hardware,
do you want to patch it for use on YY hardware? (Yes or No)"  If XX is not
the hardware you have (eg. R4), you will want to type "Yes" (without the
   quotes) and press "Enter"

4. Next, it will ask you "This file is meant for use on XX hardware, do you want to
patch it for use on YY or ZZ hardware? (YY or ZZ or No)"
If XX is not the hardware you wish to run this firmware on, you should type
one of the two options listed (YY or ZZ) (eg. Chinese, English, or Japanese)
and press "Enter" otherwise, type "No", (without the quotes) and press "Enter"

5. Newer firmwares have a save file size check on them (it always expects save files
are 512KB).  If you wish to use save files that are smaller (eg. 256KB), type
"Yes" (without quotes) and press "Enter" This question does not show up if you're
using an older version of the firmware.

6. The program will now close. In the same directory as the old _DS_MENU.DAT you
were working with is _DS_MENU.DAT.old.  This is the old, unpatched _DS_MENU.DAT.
   You can simply delete it.

7. Now, to install this new firmware, access your SD Card, replace your old _DS_MENU.DAT
with the new one we just made, and delete _DS_MENU.SYS Don't worry, your card will
produce a new _DS_MENU.SYS the first time you start your DS with the card in it.
