I wonder if anyone can help on this;

A friend's daughter (for whom I had bought an R4) wants to use picochat with her friends. As far as I know, the only way to do this would be to remove the R4 so that the boot screen is obtained on the DS. He isn't too keen after my son "lost" his R4 by taking it out and has taped his daughter's R4 so that she can't remove it.

I suggested booting to the slot 2, but this just gives a blank screen.

Any ideas?

My daugther has the same problem, I can't see a workaround, when I had a slot 2 device you simply flashme'd the ds and held select to boot DS menu, of course with a slot 1 the card automatically  boots even if you do this

Try putting this firmware dump by loopy on the R4 and running it.

I was about to suggest the firmware dump but felix beat me to it.  dai_uk, does the file not boot for you on your SCDS or something?  It's not an R4-specific file.

Ah I read firmware and thought R4 firmware, didn't think it was a ds firmware dump! will try

I've tried it on my daughter's DS Lite and it works great. I've sent it off to my friend.

Many thanks for the info on this; I did Google it, but couldn't find anything about this firmware file. I knew that someone here would have the answer!
