I was just wondering if it was OK to use game characters, logos, and such from a legal standpoint.  Aren't these characters trademarked or something, or are they fair game?  Just wondering.

i don't think it's so clear cut, like most things on the internet it probably falls into the grey area.

it's copy righted but on the other hand, nobody is claiming that particular piece of art is their own and whether the use could be classified as "commercial" is another question.

but in the absence of rules, i'll keep on making what i feel is good

True, it's harder to post here, but it's even harder to go through the contest submissions when the contest thread is flooded with off-topic chatter.  It's the best we can do for now.
