Alright, I'm sorry if I come off as a moron, but I am honestly about to throw this Supercard out of a 50 story building and probably buy a R4 or something of the sort.

The point of this thread is that I am confused. VERY confused. I bought the SC DS:One because a friend of mine recommended it, and I decided to take a shot with it.  When I received it a week or two ago, I put the OS files and updated the firmware.  I only bought it so I could play games, but every time I make progress in a game, something goes horribly wrong.  I'm going to ask a few questions, because if I don't, I think I'll rip my hair out.

First Question:  Is it necessary to buy a slot 2 device? Does it make handling this infernal thing any easier?

Second Question: Which mode gives you a better chance of keeping your saves from getting corrupted on a daily basis, Clean, or Super? If there's another mode, is it any better?

Third Question: Do you guys have to deal with the frustration that I'm going through? And if you've gotten through it, could you please explain to me how you got over this problem?

Fourth Question: How do you back up your saves? Do you just put it in your computer, or is it something on the SC DS:One card?

Thank you for reading, replying, and I thank you even more if you help me manage this infuriating issue.

1. It is not necessary to have a slot 2 device, unless you want to use the web browser or play GBA games.

2. I have never had any problem with my saves being corrupted.

3. Never had to experience it. My SCDS1 has been near flawless so far.

4. Backing up saves is easy. Just copy the .sav files from your microsd card to you computer. Voila!!  :)

Make sure you have a few free megs. I'd say at least 5-10MB. If you fill the card 100% there may not be room to save and I have no idea what it might do.

You might want to check to make sure your microSD isn't fake or defective. Give it a good run-through on your PC copying and reading stuff. Make sure you can fill it to capacity and read it back. Stuff like that.

Beyond that, no, your situation isn't typical. Something is wrong. Perhaps the SC itself is defective.

Well, I ran the self test on my SC and it says everything is fine.  I also have about 1GB of free space left on my microSD, but it's a Sandisk from Taiwan. But, I have a Kingston from Japan coming in the mail this week. I really don't know what to do. If this continues to insist, I think I might have to buy a new kind of flash cart, or play games the old fashioned way.

That JPN Kingston will kick ass for sure, that's what I'm using. Sandisk sux for me lol  :knuppel2:

Hahahah, I decided to check my mail a few minutes ago since I haven't checked all day. I finally got my Kingston, and when I started playing games on it, saving was not a problem anymore. PROBLEM RESOLVED.
I hope.

Devil_Spawn

send your other card back, it is probably faulty

The SuperCard DS ONE is worthless when used with slow memory. So basically anything other than the Kingston/Toshiba and the SanDisk Ultra II will garner you horrid results. But that still doesn't fix the problem between switching in patch mode and normal mode as that corrupts saves. I think the SC Team needs a completely new OS similar to the R4/m3 & Cyclo teams.

If I knew the saving system was such a big issue, I would've purchased a R4DS instead of my DS Ones.  :ticked:

That's not even the half of it as you already know since if you own any microSD that is not one of the ones I mentioned trying to even get games running is hard. You have to try many different microSD card speeds and patch combos to get them working. This is a real letdown by the SuperCard team who is usually top notch.

Vapourstreak

i like it a lot better than R4 tho, because of its features.  i dont really mind setting the saver sizes because i usually dont save.

JusDaMan

And that is why The SCDS1 should not be a starting card for Anyone... New users to the DS scene should start with the M3/R4. Its the simplest to use that even a cave man can do it!( just finished the geico comercial when typing this). When you become familiar to homebrews then start wif more advance cards. take it one step at a time.

the SCDS1 was my first flash cart that i EVER used.  it was hard to use at first tho, but after, im glad i chose it.  if you look at the things im selling, i selling every flash cart i have except the SCDS
