miniDVD's for GC "backups"

So I found a site that sells miniDVD's

http://www.blankmedia.ca/proddetail3.asp?id=430

I choose that brand from a tutorial that recommended them. Once I was about to checkout, I discovered that the shipping was exactly the same price as the product itself, so I thought I'd checkout dealextreme. I found this:

http://dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.4483

Same price, no shipping fees, however it is clearly labeled on the box as 1.4GB. All of my backups are larger than 1.4GB, not by much, they're usually around 1.459GB. Even though it's a small amount, it still matters. It would suck to find out that once I've bought them, I can't fit any games on them. Should these DVD's work, or should I look somewhere else?

Thanks in advance :)

Nearly all of my songs are made with Fruity Loops, except for one where I used Reason. I recommend looking at my ambient stuff, and staying away from old songs, which are pretty crappy.

Weeeellll... When burning a regular old CD, you can often fit 720 mb or so onto a 700 MB disc.  This is called overburning or something.  Not all discs can do this.  I don't know if that applies to mini DVDs, but there it is.  Maybe email the DealExtreme guy and ask for the exact capacity.

According to Wikipedia, 1.4 GB is a standard miniDVD size.  I'd guess that standard Nintendo discs have the same capacity, or else how would the GC be able to read the backup if it's a different type of disc?

Also, I'm not familiar with the GC backup process.  If it's anything like PC backup process, certain programs actually increase the size of the disc image (or its accompanying files) by a significant margin.  This is special data describing where the disc contains intentional flaws and stuff like that, also known as subdata or something like that.  It's copy protection.

Anyway, at that price and free shipping, it's worth trying.  You can let us all know how you make out.

If you don't have any luck, there should be double-layer discs you can buy somewhere.

...Hang on, forgive me, am I being retarded or did I hear that GC backups can be burnt on regular DVDs if you have a Wii?  I'm almost totally certain I heard this someplace.  In fact, I think I remember seeing modded gamecubes that just have full-size DVD drives on them...  Look into it, it's a much simpler and more effective way to back up your stuff if you can use common media.

I have checked up on just getting a new case that can hold regular DVD's, however it was 60$ (half of which was shipping...) so I decided on just sticking with miniDVD's. Anyways since it's only 8$ I'm gonna go for it. The tutorial from which I got the recommendation made no mention of two different types of miniDVD's, just that he preferred Ritek ones, which I've only noticed now :P. Anyways, thanks for the help :D
