brick scanner?

So is there a way to scan ds roms yet?   Sorry for making a new thread but i couldnt find one that said there was?

I want to go looking for a sims 2 download but i dont want to destroy my ds!

sims 2 doesnt even work, and i dont think ther is any software like that

The scanner isnt that reliable, I know that Macfee, norton and a few others already scan the files for the brick signature though so if you have antivirus that is updated you should not get any DSBrick renamed and disguised as something else ;)

Darkfaders scanner thing is 100% reliable if you only care about scanning roms - non of them should contain the arm7 bits. However newer homebrew will be flagged up as suspect since it contains similar elements. I understood this was the case with the commerical products as well...

So then roms dont cant have it in them?  
Or do they and i have to use his scanner?

Yes someone could put the bricker code in a rom and yes the scanner will detect it if it is in a rom. It will not detect homebrew stuff though as some homebrew looks similar to the bricker code but is harmless (as I understand it). Bottom line, use Ratx scanner to scan roms but dont depend on it to correctly detect the bricker code in homebrew.
