Worms 2 STILL won't load properly

Hi all,

The game that I will love, Worms 2, still cannot get past the loading screen for me. I'm using a Supercard SD (latest firmware and software) and I've tried 3 SD cards now and all freeze at the load screen. The latest is a "Topram 150X 2gb." card and still nothing. I've also tried the (e) and the (u) rom and still nothing doing. Does the "Arm7" patch fix this? I thought that was just to get the game to boot. Why would this SD card rated at the highest speed still not work? Can you guys please tell some SD cards that for sure load this game? I'm tried of buying SD cards.

I bought a SANDISK ULTRA II mini sd card for RUMBLE MINI SD and it works without ARM patching with firmware 1.83 and patcher 2.62

assuming you HAVE updated the firmware and the patcher too ?

As mentioned, yeah. I hoping its not the "Supercard SD" itself that's not compatable and that I CAN maybe go out and purchase my 4th SD card, the Ultra II, and have it work. Thanks. Anybody else have any ideas though? $:-\$

wait for yet another firmware update?

altho with the 1.83 update it does state you need a fast memory card in the changelog ..maby the ones you have are not really rated at that speed? have you actually benchmarked them ?

do other games such as P.O.R etc and other games that suffer from slow cards work flawless ?

Does anyone know how to benchmark it/check speed? I know this is a cheapy brand but I can't believe they lie even right there on the label as being "150X".

I checked that 150x card and it said this:
READ=9meg
WRITE=7meg
as opposed to the advertised speeds of:
READ=22
WRITE=15

I'm lucky there's program out there like this. Careful out there guys. HDBenchmark is another one I found. I'm going to get my money back for this one and I think just buy an Ultra II which is ONLY rated at 60X.
But its numbers are this (gauranteed):
READ=10meg.
WRITE=9meg.

Better than the supposed 150X card...I just hope that extra 1meg of READ per second is enough to do the trick.

it might be your card reader giving you a slow result
my last card reader would peak at 6-1/2meg no matter what card i put in it...........

huh...I guess that could be. But since Worms doesn't work as well, chances are that it's the card. But something to keep in mind though...

What patch settings are you using ?

I would reccomend

enable restart=off
trim=off
fastergameplay=on (essential i think for older sd/minisd series)
dma=off
patch cartridge access=on setting high

alos make the rom name short, see if that helps

Weeeeeeellll...I got an Ultra 2 and nothings changed. I've exhausted all the possibilities now, so I'm left to assume the game simply does not work on the "Supercard SD". Maybe the adapter can't read as fast as the Supercard Micro and other newer models. That's a huge disappointment after all this. Maybe a new firmware/software update will fix this? But for now I'm left waiting, hoping there's still a chance I don't have to upgrade Supercards.

I found I can play "Custom game" but Quick and Single Player do not work at all.
