Official standard game cartrage - Game won't save, is there a fix?

Hi

I was talking to one of my friends at school today. He's not a huge gamer; he owns a DS and a Wii and plays them a fair amount and likes them a lot. But he's nothing like the people on this forum.

Anyway, he was telling me how when he went to the beach he accidentally left his SM64DS game in his pocket (Of his bathing suit I'd assume, unless he took his pants in the ocean...) while he swam in the ocean, therefor exposing the SM64 game to salt water. Afterwards, when he tried to play the game, he said that the game still works, but the save data was corrupted and therefor couldn't save.

Stupid, stupid me, wanting show off my knowledge to one of the three gamers in my grade. (Yes, there's only three gamers, but also only seven kids so...) I told him that while his save data was lost forever, that I might be able to restore the game's ability to save. My friend said that would be great, and in return I told him to let me barrow the game for a night so I could fix it.

On the car ride home... I realized that I actually had NO IDEA whether it was actually possible to fix his game, I just assumed that it was possible.

I have a problem of rambling on and on without getting to the point, don't I? To get to the point MY FRIENDS GAME CANNOT SAVE, CAN I MAKE IT SAVE? If not, it's not that big a deal, but I would like to help and keep my word. (Although I never promised him , and this was all said in the single minute before I had to go home from school.)

Thank you

you could try putting a new save on with reinmoon & seeing if you can save to the new save!!??

Hi

Well I don't actually have his game card as of right now so I can't test it... but I went and told him today that it MAY be fixable. I'll see if rein moon works when I get a chance to. Thanks.

i have done this with my nieces sm64ds cart from my daughters of the same but my daughter was way further along with no issues. Yet neither were in water/salt water, etc... though.
