Project64 Problem

Im using Project64 and am having a problem with the models (like Mario or Zelda) not moving at full speed. The emu is running at 50 to 60fps but like Mario in Mario64 or Zelda in OOT only seem to walk , I can't get them to run. The graphics looks smooth, the audio is smooth, the only problem is that the characters seem to move slow. Now im not saying super slow, I just mean they slowly walk and wont run or "dash". My pc specs are way over the recommended specs and I have run this on this pc before with no problems so im stumped. Im thinking it is an input plugin in problem. Im using the default input plugin and when I turned the "deadzone" slide bar all the way to 0 it helped some but there is still a noticeable difference. Any ideas?

have you got the FPS limiter enabled ?

press F4 during gameplay to ENABLE /DISABLE the FPS (frames per second)  :)

whats the specs of your machine ?

graphics card and processor and ram :)

mine works fine full speed etc with a 256mb radeon pro 9600 and 1gb ram and a 2gb processor  :)

ZELDA majoras mask may lag somewhat as it did come with an extra ram pack to enable more boost in the graphics with the N64 console itself :)

also make sure you dont have any antialiasing on or anisotropic filtering maby also try chaning the resolution of fullscreen mode to a bit less than its set at now :)

Are the cutscenes running at speed? If so, what kind of controller are you using? If you're using the keyboard expect strange results. At least I got strange results. Now I use a PS2 to USB adaptor and all is well.

DeVS

The specs aren't the problem as I have had it running on here in the past with no problems. Running a 3ghz processor, 9600XT video card, 1gig ddr ram. Im using a usb to original N64 controller adapter.

hmmm did you check the FPS limiter ?

that it should be unchecked  if its a bit slow :)

DeVS

Ya it's checked and im still getting 50 to 60fps. Gotta be a controller plugin problem. Will switch controllers later and see if that helps.

it should be UN CHECKED ... remove the checkmark for full speed :)

you could always reinstall the USB adapter or put it in a different USB port  :)

I have FPS Limiter turned on. If you turn it off the FPS goes to like 160 instead of 60fps.

lol thats the idea!

I just wondered if that was why it was lagging due to the fps being too slow.... but now it seems like that its possibly a controller issue :)

DeVS

Sure enough it was the controller. It's running fine with an XboX 360 controller. Guess I will have to ebay for a new N64 Controller. Thanks for all the suggestions.

:)

I have 4 of them but they are for the REAL N64 we have haha :)

kinda collect retro consoles etc  :)

for pc stuff I bought a dedicated 10 button joypad with 2 analogue sticks which add 2 more stick buttons aka ps2 etc :)

DeVS

Ya mine goes to a real N64 also, lol. I just like using the hires textures for Mario and Zelda that you can only do on emulators.

Devs, did you make sure the n64 joystick was calibrated.  Miscalibrated sticks tend to do that, I have experienced that sort of thing and I use an N64 controller adapter.
