Hi, I read that FAT 16 , 64kb cluster size was the best format.

When I right click my drive under "My Computer" in Vista, and select "Format", the only options I see is FAT (default) and FAT 32.

Is FAT (default) actually FAT 16?

in xp you cant get the option to format with 64k cluster by right clicking in my compter you have to go to your control panel then, Administrative Tools, Computer Management then Disc Management then format it give you the option of allocation unit sizes (64k) so its probably the same in vista

what i do is this in XP it is maybe the same in vista
Go to: Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc

Select your SD card and right-click "Format"

    * Volume Label: Whatever you like
    * File System: FAT
    * Allocation unit size: 64k
