PSP Slim 2200 mAh battery pack coming soon (stock=1200 MAh)

The original PSP used a 1800 mAh battery, but the Slim uses a 1200 MAh battery.  Because of the Slim's lower battery usage though, it gets about the same lifespan.  With the new 2200 mAh battery, you might theoretically get as much as 9 hours of battery life if you normally get 5 hours!

This is basically the same as the 2200 mAh battery that was released for the PSP vanilla, but it comes with a new battery cover to allow the slim to hold it.

Price is $44.99 USD and it's supposed to be released in mid-December.  Finally I might have motivation to buy my first PSP!

I wonder if the new battery is Pandora/jigkick compatible?

I'm not totally sure what that means; I'm not familiar with the PSP jargon yet...  I'm guessing it's that unbricking thing you load onto a battery pack somehow?  I heard of something like that.  Or maybe it's a firmware updater?

Well in any case, if you wanted to do something like that I don't see why you couldn't use the stock battery for those 5 minutes, right?

Pandora's battery can be used for both "unbricking" and as a custom firmware update tool for PSP/Slim.

I was thinking the new battery might not work with PSP MultiLoader.

I want to point out that when using custom firmware with PSP/Slim that homebrew and ISO's can be loaded directly from the memory card. Games you own can be backed up to memory card by using Fastloader. By not using the PSP's UMD drive battery life is greatly extended.

Well... as I now own a PSP slim and the very item I first posted about in this thread, here's some updated information.

First off, the new battery cover isn't very nice looking.  It's identical in color but it ruins the form factor pretty badly... even so, I don't really care.  As for battery life, as you'd expect it's about 80% longer.  So maybe 8-9 hours running games with UMD?

Except, I've ripped all my games to my 4 gb memory stick.  (neat you can do that with a PSP, even if it requires modded firmware)  So there's no disc drive to keep spinning, so battery life grows because of that.  Plus for the main thing I use my PSP for - watching TV shows - I can use PMP Player Advance, which allows me to drop the CPU speed to only 66mhz while remaining completely fluid with no discernible difference during playback.  I have watched it for over 4 hours at a stretch on some occasions, and the battery dropped something like 7%.  I could theoretically watch upwards of 40-50 hours of video without recharging (though I'd be happy with 20), and with my 4gb memory card I can hold approximately 19 hours of full-resolution medium-high quality widescreen video..  In other words, I have the best fecking portable movie player, ever.

Indeed... :(

However I got my 4gb Sony-brand one for $50 on sale a few months back so I accept it as a consolation prize.

As Sony is already releasing batteries that don't take a Pandora I'm sure these also won't.
