Looks like Microsoft Released it's fall update. It is very nice and very well organized now. I really like how they have the TV show section set up to look like Wii Channels with the network names. I was able to play xvid files from a portable hard drive and also from a cd perfectly. There are also a handful of XboX 1 games you can now download.

I can't play any Bleach episodes or other xVids...I just synced it with my laptop too

edit-maybe you can only play through USB?  I was using Media Center

Did it ask you to download the codec? First time I tried playing an Xvid it said it needed to download a codec and it and it did. After that it played just fine. Also it won't play videos that were made with a version of Divx below version 4 I believe.

It asked me to download the option media update. After that, it's been playing whatever I throw at it  I'm am so glad I dont have to convert my vids anymore. I tried some Divx movies and episodes I had burned to dvd and they all worked. I streamed some more avis and mp4 files from my PC to it and it worked great. So far I'm happy. Has anyone tried downloading an Xbox 1 game yet?

No, but then again my bro updated it not I. it still gives the old message that it is a bad codec or unrecognized file.

Forced it to update by playing an avi from a cd, but the exact same files from media center don't work
