My family celebrates Hanukkah. And tonight is the second night of the holiday. (On Hanukkah, parents give children one present each night.) Last night, I got a new monitor, which I need badly since my current one is dying.

But there's still seven more presents. And the thing is, my parents would get me video games... but I've told them to please not do this. "You can't just walk into a game store, read the back of the box, and buy the game. 90% of the games in existence are terrible. You have to read reviews and know a fair amount about video games before you buy them."

And so, my presents will probably consist mostly of money and gift cards, which are my favorate presents anyway.

Grrr, I ALWAYS ramble. Well, if you read the topic title, you'll already know my question before you read that long pointless writing above. Any suggestions on what I should buy?

what kinda value are we talking about? similar to a monitor or game value?

guitar hero 3 is a great game if it helps :p, a nice new keyboard + mouse maybe?

I think RockBand is better than Guitar Hero III. It's also more expensive.  How about a new PSP slim or Crimson DS?

Well if you don't have any friends to play with go with Guitar Hero 3,lol. GH3 has a better single player games, feels more arcade-ish. RockBand is crazy fun but really only with friends in a party type setting.

If you don't have a DS (although I would imagine you do if you are posting here!) I would say to absolutely get one. If you do already, I completely agree with a PSP Slim. They are both awesome handhelds, and nothing beats having them both

I don't know for sure the amount of money I'm getting Devil_Spawn. The monitor is supposedly my biggest present, that's what my parents say. But it's hard to know for sure. They like to make me be suprised.

The second night is passed. Or... y'know what I mean... the NIGHT hasn't passed... the part where I get presents has passed... hey, and that's what's important to all us greedy people right? 

I got $50 tonight. (along with a book of optical illusions that give me a headache) Considering it's the second night... not a bad start.

Is Guitar Hero 3 a wii game? The only systems I have are the NDS and Wii. (and I KNOW that guitar Hero isn't a wii game.) If it's for the wii, I may look into it... I've never played that type of video game before... but then again that may be all the more reason to get it.

And... I don't want a PSP. Not only just the fact that I hate Sony, (Yeah, no reason to not buy a system but... It 's hard to buy something made by a company you hate.) but to this day I have never touched a single "T" game. (I've never played a game that ESERB rated T for Teen). If SSBB is rated T, that may be the first T rated game I play but... until then my dislike of violence makes it unreasonable for me to get a PSP.

Plus the fact that I don't see the PSP as a particularly creative system... SOMEONE STOP ME BEFORE I START RAMBLING AGAIN!!!

I just played Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii last night at my friend's house.  I say go for it.

I'm one step ahead of you all. I got a G-shock watch for Hanukkah last year 

You know, I've sort of decided that since I don't know what to spend my money on... why spend it? No doubt they'll be something I find later on that I want and won't be able to buy.
