At zorlin, I am a proud owner of SC products (that is why i am actuall using this site)! With that said, the SCDS1 having to update when new roms or find out what the save size is each time is a pain in the butt. The reason of this thread is that the person using the card, well, just wants to use it. Not monkey around with a ton of settings and steps. For me the SCDS1 is plug and play, but not everyone feels that way about it.

Well, i went with the R4 with a 2gig kingston(jpn).

Just to say that 7 year olds like Pictochat, so I would suggest putting on the "boot screen file" (can't remember what it's called- it's the one that gives the opening screen) and re-name to "pictochat" otherwise she will be forever taking the R4 out and it will soon get lost! I did this for a friend's daughter after he had taped over the R4 to stop her getting it out.

picto chats only really good with more than one kid with a ds lol

besides theres a rom for that too remember theres a color picto chat but better called PING PALS 

@onekelly she wont be dissapointed ... just find out what kind of things she likes and then find a suitable theme

Personally, I'd have to say your choice of the R4 is a good one...
The Supercard DSOne is fun for people like me because you can customize so many aspects of it [shameless-plug]*cough* Zorlin's English Pack *cough*[/shameless-plug] but yeah, most people would find it a bit tedious. And a 7-year old probably wouldn't bother skinning it
But yeah, a Kingston JP card was probably a really good idea, good work
