CF vs. SD "Which Is Faster"

I have both the Supercard CF and Supercard SD and have noticed that the CF is much faster on booting the games. Is this normal?

Does it have any affected on the speeds of the game itself?

Currently I am using all Sandisk stnadard media.

You may have a higher quality CF card than SD card, otherwise it should be pretty close to the same.
S Setup:
1st Gen DS
Flashme 5 w/ Superpass and Supercard SD
Limited edition Miyamoto signed orange DS Skin
Limited edition Kirby! pink stylus
Now Playing: Nintendogs w/ Jack Russel Terrier

i believe compact flash has the capability for higher speeds for SUSTAINED data transfer.

I think the difference you'll see through the super card would be minimal at best for either. One may be slightly faster... but I doubt it'd effect compatibility at all.

The best way to check would be to get a SD card and a CF card made by the exact same company, that are known to be of comparable speed (if you can't find exactly the same) then load up Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and time how long it takes to load songs (since those take the longest to load of any part of any other game I've played and their load times are fairly consistant, it'd make for good comparisons) with a stop watch or something similar.

OK... I have 2 systems side by side... one with CF and one with SD. I loaded up Batman Begins 16455K. The SD was loaded and playing while the CF was at 12000K. I am using the exact same Sandisk media and Rom too.

So it looks like the Sd boots/loads games faster. Atleast the numbers say so.

I'm actually using Kodak brand SD cards (256MB) and they seem to load pretty darn quickly. Then again, I do not have a CF supercard to test against. But I can say for sure that I have not experienced any type of slowdown on any of the GBA games I tested...yet.

SD Cards are usually faster that is if you use a standard CF Card. There are fast ones too but SD Cards can go up to 20MByte/Sec. The new 2GB ones with 133x Speed(I guess it was 133) are that fast. That is pretty much compared to the standard SD Speed of 2MB/sec :)

However I am fine with my cheap standard 512MB SD card here.

I have 3 1gb sd cards, 2 toshiba and 1 corsair, i find the corsair to be the fastest, i dont know how they compare to CF cards but i find them to be quick enough for use on the ds

Depends who is throwing it...

That said, I think CF has better capability for using the hi-speed ones, as the ability to access some of the more advanced features of SD is limited by the liscencing. SD is a proprietary form of media, and basic/slow routines are partly reversed and useable, but secured media is a little more complex than CF media.
