Games don't seem to crash when using superpass

I think it's real, games don't crash when I disable flash with select and use Superpass.

I played a bunch of time Osu! Tatake! Ouendan! and Mario Kart DS that way and the games didn't crash once. I've even spent some good time going in and out the stages of Osu! or the races in MK and I didn't witnessed one freezing.

It is not that they crashed a lot with flash, but by the time I played I'd expect some freezing.

If this is right it may be possible for future versions of the firmware to put a halt to crashes.

What do you mean "disable flash"? Once you use flashme, you update the firmware of the device, so you are really always using it. I understand if compatibility may be somewhat better with the Superpass with Flashme v4.0, but with v5.0 it makes no difference as far as I can see. I own the Superpass (as well as passme2) and I never even break them out now for playing DS games. I have NEVER had a game crash or freeze on me. Faulty DS perhaps?

Hold Select on boot to skip the FlashMe check.
Manually signing your posts is dumb.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

I dunno... when I first got it... I thought the same thing awhile ago. I don't seem to notice it anymore though.

I don't realy have to disable the flash just not to boot it with ABXY.

I don't think the DS is faulty since I've never had an original game freezing before and neither a game in CF when using Superpass.

The only games that I've seen freeze were MK, Ouendan!, Phoenix and Lost in Blue.

zektor: do you use supercard SD, or CF?

xogum: SD or CF?

I have a feeling xogum is using SD... and zektor? [edit] never mind... haha.. i just read carefully (it's 6AM over here) and saw that xogum is using CF too..  maybe your CF is too full?  that caused crashing for me...[/edit]

from what I've seen, most of the issues involving different people getting different results are now due to the differences in performance between SD and CF versions of supercard, or filing their storage card to almost full capacity.

my CF version should arrive by tomorrow.  after that, all games that occasionally freeze or slow down will go on my CF..

I use CF.

Still haven't got any crashes when using superpass.

ABXY forces it to boot in PassMe mode, booting it up with no buttons pressed causes a check for the game code "PASS" on the GBA cart, and boots it as if you had pressed the buttons if it finds it, holding start at bootup should cause an unpatched version of the firmware to be loaded instead of the patched version (skipping the "PASS" check on the gba card).

From what I understand, there is at least 2, perhaps even 3 compressed firmwares stored in the origional single space, the patched firmware, the recovery firmware and in the least information as to which firmware version passme patched (to do the uninstall) if not a compressed version of the origional firmware.
