Using the patching software for my SC CF I have the option of using the CF or SC position. When I patch my games with the CF position option they load up in no time and play with no slowdown. Just wondering why one would use the SC position - thx = }

Because some people DO experience slowdowns when running from their SD/CF card, and in that case it's better to run the ROMs from the SuperCard ... I've only experienced it with one game, Big Mutha Truckers. It turned out to be no big deal at all because A) that game sucks, so I played it all of maybe two times and B) it's a really small ROM, so it loaded quickly anyway. But with slower/cheaper cards, some people experience slowdowns with lots of games, so in that case running from the SC is a nice option.

One of the games with alot of slow downs is animal crossing, it takes about 3 times as long to go inside of a building if you have it run off the card.

You're kidding?! I've been playing that game a lot the past few days, off my SD card (Sandisk Extreme III 1GB, 133x) and I've never noticed any delays when entering buildings - usually takes about a second or two for the new enviroment to load. Is that too long?

Actually, this has got me thinking ... Is is possible to patch a game twice - once to run from SD and once to run from SC, and then both game files to use the same save file? Since the game files would have different names (extensions, like .dqi or whatever) but the game name (and therefore the .sav name) would be would the same on both - that way you could load the SC game if you know you'll be playing for a long time, otherwise you can load the SD version if you'll only be playing for a little while ... Is that possible?

Yea it is possible, I did that for a wile, because one is dsi and one dsq but they use the same save. I guess my card is slow or something. does it even go normal speed right at the start where the guy walks around and the menu is their?

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a go tonight and see if there's any performance difference ...

As for the intro (little dude walking around, "Touch to Start" message) it seems to run jsut fine - that is, I assume it's running at full speed - I've never noticed any slowdown. But I'll run from SC tonight and see if I notice anything. Thanks again for the info ...

Wow!!   :shock:

I tried running AC:WW from the SC position for the first time, tonight - and all I have to say is WOW!! I never knew it, but running from the SD card really IS slower than from the SC! I mean, it's not a tremendous difference, but it IS noticable. Definately noticable. Characters walk around faster, the fade in/out when entering buildings and rooms is much smoother and faster now, and even some of the conversations and dialogues seem faster now as well.

I think I'm going to keep my .dsq on the SD card though, it's so much faster to load - but when I know I've got an extended period of time to play, I'll definately be loading the .dsi (running from the SC position) ...

Actually, this has got me thinking - I really would like to play this game from an original cart - living in Japan, it's virtually (if not downright) impossible to find North American version games for sale - and most companies in the States won't ship DS games overseas. So, I'm basically screwed, which is why I bought a SC in the first place. But I really would like to check this game out (and Tony Hawk, for that matter) playing from a real cart - I wonder if there actually IS slowdown in all these games I play, but I'm just not aware of it because I have nothing to compare it to ... ?

Oh well, ignorance is bliss. :)
