SD and CF patchers together in Windows?

This has most likely been asked before, and I did quite a few searches to try to find an answer, but didn't find anything on it. Can the SC SD patching software live with the CF patching software? In other words, can I safely have both installed without causing any problems? I have a SC SD, but also have a SC CF on the way...because I wanted to try it as well and compare.

As long as they are stored in different directories it shouldn't be a problem. Several people do it.

Cool. What happens if you just stick a rom patched with the SC SD software on the CF or vice versa? What makes them so different patching wise? Like I said, I have yet to mess with the CF version. Just seems strange that one patching software would not work for both units.

Different drivers needed to access CF versus SD. You need to apply the driver to the rom, or else it wouldn't be able to directly read itself from the SD or CF card. It wouldn't make sense to apply both drivers to a rom. Would take up extra space.
