I flashed my DS using the instructions here. It worked for a while but now my DS is bricked ( I assume that is the correct term, when I turn the DS on nothing happens). What file should I have on my super card when I try to reflash my firmware, flashme.ds.gba, flashme.nds, flashmepatched.nds, or something else? When I turn the DS on with Start+Select+A+B held down should the screens turn on? Also, do I need to short SL1 before I start?

You should put the flashme.nds ONLY on the card and use the start-select-a-b feature. Do not run the flashme.nds through the patching software, but simply copy it to a blank SD (or CF if you have that). Last I tried it this way (my DS wasn't bricked, but I just wanted to test the feature) it auto-booted the flashme firmware installer. I remember seeing nothing at all when holding the four keys, and then like magic the flashme installer came up.

It has been some time since I tested this, can anyone else confirm or add to what I said?

Last week I bricked my girlfriend DS.
The battery must have lost contact during the flashing process (done at 67%) to upgrade to Flashme v5.

After some screams, and with help from a friend and browsing some forums, I did that :
Put flashme.nds alone on my CF, put passMe with a game, power on holding select+start+A+B a few seconds.
THEN released all buttons (screens were still black) and pushed A.
At the moment I pushed A, FlashMe installing screen came back with process at 67%.
I shorten SL1, and save both DS and my sexual life.
