No parallel port - Superpass2 a mistake?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post here, I've just now started getting into the whole NDS thing, in fact I ordered a Supercard and a Superpass2 just yesterday! Anyway, I chose the Supercard2 because it terminated in a USB plug, and my computer doesn't have a parallel port. But today I read somewhere online that you have to connect BOTH the parallel and USB ... So, I'm screwed.

Is there any way for me to program my new Superpass2 WITHOUT using a parallel port?

thanks / mavis

not that I know, since the flash system uses a special method were every wire of the paralel port carries part of the flashing code that goes to an specific part of the IC.
Maybe you can get an extra parallel port at some computer store.
Some motherboards hasve a parallel connection, but doesn't have the cable and the external part of the port. Investigate that.
If your computer is one of those mini HP stuff, or a laptop, maybe you can try usign a paralel converter, but I don't think that will work.
Ultimately, you will only flash it a couple of times, you can ask a friend to flash it in his computer.

What i have read is :

parallel connexion is for programming (datas and signals to Superpass),
usb if used to get some power to superpass during flash process.

So : both connexions are required  :?:

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Immediately after post, I did some research on my XPC and found that there is a parallel port header on my mobo, and that it is sold here in Tokyo. So, I've ordered one and it should get here around the same time as my Superpass2 and SupercardSD ...

Thanks again!! :D

I'm confused.  If you've ordered a Superpass2, isn't that a PassMe2 already programmed for a specific game?  Why do you need to reprogram it?

the superpass2 is an enhanced version of both superpass and passme2. It comes with the passme1 firmware, but it includes a firmware flasher, so you can change it to whatever game you have. in a simple way.
