Flashme Wireless Problem?

Hi, I recently bought myself one of the old VIP EU DSes, but before I flash the firmware, I have a question for you knowledable lot.

At work I flashed one of our faulty DSes (busted DS cart slot) with the flash, and thereafter it could join wireless games fine, but hosting them wouldn't work. Mario Kart would show the other DS, and downloading would start, but it would always fail, giving a connection error. Before with the normal firmware was fine though.

Is this a known problem with removing the RSA check, or is it a problem with the specific console itself?

In other thoughts...has anybody had the thought of recoding the firmware UI so the silly thing doesn't constantly need to restart after changing every little setting :)

Anyone? Surely there must be at least one fo you who has flashme'd their DS and hosted Mario Kart games for non-flashed DSes, and thus can tell me if it actually works or not.

Please ;)

I haven't , but I saw in a forum that other people were having the same problem.

I have a flashed DS (original v2, FlashMe v6) and I've hosted Mario Kart DS download games with the actual game to non-flashed DS units with no problems.

Firmware versioning: Get a Passcard 3, a SuperKey, or a slot-1 flashkit. Then it doesn't matter which firmware you have.

mr_jrt

Thank you. Time to flash it would seem.

If you have any problems and decide you don't like it, you can always use noflashme.

Well, I've flashed it, and narrowed down the problem criteria.

It's not just Mario Kart, it's ALMOST ALL multiboot games (meteos download play was the only one that worked).

On stock firmware, I can host from my supercard just fine.

Once I stuck flashme on it I can no longer host multiboot games from flash. Real carts work fine though. Very peculiar.

Ideas?

Therein lies the issue... you didn't say whether you were hosting from a real game or from the ROM on SC.

Hosting from a real game works fine, but ROM on SC doesn't, in my experience... for some games, anyway. I've download-played Pokemon Toroze and Sonic Rush from SC, and I've hosted local multiplay on AC.

As there are variant firmwares for leaving the health screen intact, I don't suppose anyone has variants which leave the rsa check intact to see if thats the problem?

m2pt5

I believe leaving the rsa check intact would defeat the purpose of replacing the firmware. You need to run unsigned code (the Supercard menu) before you run signed code (the DS ROM.) You wouldn't be able to test it.

Oh right, I thought the RSA check was just for wireless multiboot stuff. My bad. So what could possibly cause the problem then?

m2pt5

(I'm just speculating here, so this may be entirely wrong.)

Since the RSA check is not disabled by FlashMe when you're playing a real DS game, you can host multiplayer with a real DS game fine. However, since FlashMe has to activate to boot the SuperCard, the RSA is disabled for that play session, therefore you (usually) can't host download multplayer, as the download won't be signed.
