To have basically a clone/identical gameplay experience for the most part, what is the minimum compact flash card speed with supercard?

i only have 12x right now so I need to upgrade I know
what has been everyone else's experience with their speeds?

My understanding of the working of the SC is that the CF speed is not an issue for game play.  As the rom is loaded into the SC's memory before play commences, the only slowdown for even the slowest speed card is longer/slower load time. Slowdowns are reported from software issues-see posts about saves/slowdowns but are not intrinsic to card speed.

The only caveat being if you are running larger sized roms over 256 mbit-(e.g. over 32 mb-which is the onboard memory of the SC) directly from the card in the case of some DS games.-(see Games over 32 mb by Kompact in the help/Tips Section)

GBA games it's a non-issue.

In theory (I worked out the math) you should never need over 60x to run any game at full speed. Most games will work fine with a slower speed, just have longer load times. The only games that shouldn't work at all on super slow cards are those that are constantly reading from the CF/SD card. (Tony Hawke, Ultimate spider man, a couple others)

well was i stupid for ordering a 60x memory card and not sticking with my 12x's?

Does a 60x card run Tony Hawk without problems, what does the ds game cart usually read at?

My personal experience is that I used to own a 12x card and found that some games would just refuse to load (notably Nintendogs; it would start once in every seven or eight times); also I could not save (or read) the save game file, so every game started from scratch.

I got a 60x card and every game now works perfectly (I have them set to load from CF for speed).  Tony Hawk runs just fine.
