How do i backup the saves from a real GBA Cartridge to *.sav format?

PharaohsVizier

I don't think you can.  I used to use my EZ Flash 3 linker to do it, but I don't think there is a way for Supercard users.  I hope someone proves me wrong.

Ummm are u using Supercard Mini SD?  I think you need a battery.  Not sure though.

I think i found something.

Pak Swapping. The process would involve inserting the SuperCard, loading the program, removing the SuperCard, inserting the GBA Game Pak, reading the SRAM, removing the GBA Game Pak, reinserting the SuperCard, and writing the SRAM.

GBA Game Save Backup Utility

This is a GBA program designed for use with a GBA movie player. It should also work with an M3 Perfect CF or a SuperCard CF. It allows you to backup game saves from your original cartridges onto a compact flash card. You can then copy them to your computer and restore them at a later date. To use it, put the file onto your compact flash card and run it using the Game option in your cart's menu. It will then tell you what to do next.

The program starts fine in my SuperCard SD adapter but the problem is i dont have a GBA card at home. Im trying to help a friend out..

Can someone test this for me?

Zygarth

I tested it and it didn't work on a ds lite or an original gba. As soon as you plug the supercard back in again, it resets. I think you CAN write saves but you can't back up your original saves.

I talked to the makes of this program chishm.

He says he might add SD support for SC/M3 ect in the future.
So for now it only works on CF.

I'd really love for this functionality to be added for the SC Lite...then I don't have to worry about bringing GBA carts with me so I can play my saved games!

Rion, if you're still looking to transfer saves from a real GBA cartridge to .sav format, do a search for "Movie Advance CF" on eBay.  I bought a GBA Movie Player from the seller "yellowoasis", got it within a couple of days, and used it along with Chishm's SendSave utility for GBAMP to get the saves off my GBA cartridges.

I figured that was easier than waiting for SCLite compatibility for the SendSave program!

An answer that has worked in my case is to use a Gameshark (V1 or 2) or an Actionreplay and to extract the save (they have termination *. sps or *. xps) AND of there to care him with the VisualBoyAdvance to format sav...
