ok so i just got all my stuff. And im patching the DS roms right now

i was following this guide:

http://users.skynet.be/DuNe/Prive/supercard4dummies.html

which says to uncheck "faster game play" and somebody told me to unchech "trim rom" too

but then I saw somebody else say to check "restart" "faster game play" and "trim rom" on every DS rom

so what should i do?

thanks in advance

meangreenie

check all 3 ...play
Yes I'm mad

ok thanks alot... i wonder why they say to uncheck it on that guide??

so check all 3 for every DS rom then rite?

Certain games probably have certain issues with certain options.  The safest way is to uncheck everything.  The most enjoyable experience will come from them all being checked.  So different people have different opinions based on what problems they have or have not had.

A guide from someone trying to make Supercard look bad might say "you have to uncheck everything or else you might crash."  A guide from someone trying to make Supercard look good might say, "And it comes with the option of switching back to the main supercard menu at any time at the cost of minor problems in one or two games."

Both are exaggerations.  If you want the truth, you will have to find it for yourself.

The guide is quite old, if you look you can see it's using 2.50 patcher which is quite a few software client generations a go. The faster game-play option was a little unstable on it's first release (2.50) but seems solid as rock now. I have no-idea why they would advise not to enable trim-rom, I have always enabled it and can't think of any instance where it caused an issue.

Gotti

thanks for the help mean

do you know of any games that have issues after checking all 3 options?

Just so i know in advance not to do it for that game

meangreenie

I think the 'Euro' version of 'Mario and Luigi Partners in Time' locked up on the second level boss with the 2.541 patcher and 1.62 firmware (I don't know if this has been fixed in 2.542 but it probably is). If you have trouble with that then use 2.51 patcher with all 3 options off. Note the 'US' version didn't have this problem.

That's the only rom I know of where you may get trouble, and it may well be fixed now anyway.

I wouldn't "trim rom" as it has the ability to corrupt the rom and it doesn't save that much space.

As for faster gameplay, only check this if you have slow media. If your Mini-SD/SD is 60X or faster then you don't have to as you won't notice any slowdown. However, if its a Sandisk 2GB Mini-SD or it doesn't have the speed on the box I would suggest unchecking it as it will help with slowdown. If its on the ROM tells the Supercard to read all data from the Mini-SD/SD while playing. If its off it loads the game into the Supercards' memory before playing. This increases the load time on start up where it counts down the kb's.

With the restarts and such I leave them as is unless I have a problem with a rom, which I haven't yet.

Gotti

ok i have 1 sandisk 1gb and 1 kingston 1gb... both dont have speed on the box

so that means i should uncheck "faster game play" right. With fgp unchecked will the games still run like i had a 60x minisd on faster game play. Or am i going to suffer for purchasing these cards?

damn... if i would of known i would of bought some other ones. I got the sandisk cuz they're more expensive than other ones, so i expected it to be the best kind to get :(
the 1gb is the same as 2gb i assume right?

Sandisk and Kingston are slow memory but are very stable. Howver, do this test. Do the Castlevania test with the movie in the beinging, start up the game and let it sit, a movie will play. Let me know the results. Also play Animal Crossing and see how the lag is in the start up menu and going in and out of houses. If its bad then enable the read from sc option. You'll basically have to go game by game to see which ones you get lag with. And yes, the 1GB is the same as the 2GB. The program I tested my cards with said this:

SanDisk 2GB miniSD = 18X (4kb/sec)
ATP ProMax 150X miniSD = 168X (25kb/sec)

Just enable them all, and stop speculating, there is no list of games that don't work with 'faster gameplay' or 'trim rom' for a reason. Reason is they all work with possibly the exception of M&L PIT (Euro).

Quoted for Truth.

I check all 3 for every DS game that I've played with absolutely NO PROBLEMS.

Stop all this speculation.  If you want to double check then click here: http://www.dualscene.net/lists/index.php?listname=Supercard

You will notice that basically every game that is working on the Supercard supports ALL THREE OPTIONS.  This mirrors my experience as well.
