Difference between the SCLite Chinese/English Version

Ok, for starters I'm staying in China right now, and I'm planning to buy the SC Lite from hopebuy.com. However, I was curious and checked the chinese version of the site. I found out that they had English and Chinese versions of the SCLite and the Chinese versions were quite a bit cheaper than the English version. As a bonus, they even have SCLite+SuperKey+MicroSD Bundles.

My question is, does anyone know what the specific differences are between the english and chinese versions? Is the chinese version cart flashable with the english version firmware? Are the english patcher tools usable with the chinese hardware? Does it have lower-spec hardware?

I can understand chinese very well, but it's not my preferred language, which means I can understand it enough to change it to english if it's possible. So if the chinese version can be made to work in english, then I can just get the cheaper version.

You can't change a chinese SC into an english one, that's what I read.  No idea what the differences are - probably just the menu text?

wow. I didn't know they had a chinese and english version.  I would assume mine's a chinese version (my supplier gets his things directly from mainland china, in person) but the menu is all in english.  it is the same menu as previous supercard menus.

now i'm curious to know what the differences are too.  anyone have any more info?

Well, since I have no desire to wait any longer... English it is!!!

Thanks for the clarification

i think the language of the SC card is depended on the software.

I know this 100% for certain, I read it on a SC news site or maybe even the homepage, or its forum... one of these places.  A reputable person possibly even Romman himself said that Chinese SC cannot be turned into an English SC just by using english firmware.  I think he was trying to warn people to wait for the regular english version rather than order early.

Still no idea at all what the differences are.

if that's the case, then in the future there may be a newer menu or something for sclite.  because as it is now, it's the same standard simple menu, and it supports english (i'm sure mine's the chinese version)..

Maybe this is a good sign... a new graphical menu perhaps?

Gotti

i ordered mine from hong kong... threw ebay

and the menus are all in english

I'd be willing to bet you're thinking of Danny & the Chinese2English issue with the M3/G6. There are tons of sites/boards quoting and mis-quoting Danny's "legendary" statement. As far as I know M3/G6 is the only flash device maker that has region locked hardware. All (or most) have multiple language firmware revisions.

The Chinese SuperCard is just packaged differently. My sister's SC CF came from China via friend on vacation. It came in a box exactly like my English SC SD, but with Chinese text. We use the English firmware updates, and have never had an issue. Her SC CF is the best DS device in our collection... it'll run anything DS perfectly. My M3mini beats her @ GBA tho. 8)

I suppose the SCLite could be different, but it seems very unlikely.

that's what i was thinking, but didnt wanna assume that altor got it wrong.. since he said he knows it 100% for certain..

and, it is true that they're selling the chinese version at hopebuy for like RMB50 less than the english.. seems weird to sell it at two different prices for a box with different lettering on it.

But, I've seen stranger things.
