Have you ever noticed how the DS Lite has a sleek gel looking surface,  identical to newer apple computers? This is a product of how the case is painted. The DS lite, Is not white at all, but merely clear plastic with white paint on the INSIDE of the clear plastic. Anyway, I had an Ibook, I took it apart, soaked the white plastic parts in isopropyl alcohol, and with minimal paint scraping, got the white paint off the plastic, and voala, I had a clear laptop.. Pretty cool. I haven’t had the guts to take apart my DS lite, but Im sure it is painted the same way, also, if you didn’t want clear, you could paint it whatever other color you wanted, even that mirage paint they sell, and since its on the inside, it will never scratch, and the surface will still have that sleek gel look to it. If anyone does this I would LOVE to see pictures. What do you guys think?

I want either a red or lime green lite (same colours as some of the early pictures of the Wii).

If you look more closely you will see the DS Lite has a clear plastic layer over a white plastic shell.  There is no paint.

I do like the idea of loosing the plastic layer and making the entire shell clear plastic.  I vote Duh....

really?! If its only a clear plastic shell underneath, that looks like it would be easier (less messy) than getting a layer of paint off.. too bad there are a few parts that are actualy white plastic.. i guess the whole inside screen part is.. but i would settle for a mostly clear ds :p
