Hi everybody, I'm French and new on this beautiful forum  :D

I expect to buy the following Hopebuy bundle : http://www.hopebuy.com/0001/0403/90010901.htm

There is a microSD card in the package, but I think it is a "standard" one.
In the few reviews I could read about Supercard Lite, I noticed that there are some differences between microSD standard and the high speed model : Sandisk 60x ultra II for example.

Is it really necessary to buy a high speed microSD to get better performances ?

Where are the speed differences ? Only during game loading or also while playing the game ? GBA, DS, both ?

Thank you very much for all your answers.

yes it kinda is necesary if you dont want any slowdowns in NDS roms. Standar is 12x and Ultra II is 60x. also its both, in game loading an when playing the game. Only NDS, because NDS roms read from the microsd but the gba roms are loaded ino the supercards internal memory, so a high speed card wont improve speed for gba only for NDS roms.

However, there seems to be a number of people who feel that standard-speed is all that's required thanks to the improved efficiency in the new SC design.  For instance, it took a 150x or so miniSD to run the castlevania intro well, but now it runs with a standard 12x microSD at full speed, completely flawlessly.  I just wish more people would post their findings.  Getting SC Lite reviews is like pulling teeth for some reason :|

cause we're all playing games instead of writing!  just kidding...  just to update you, my standard microsd really seems ok for all games.  performance is just about the same as g6Lite's internal memory (i use that for comparison because many people regard g6 as having the best DS performance).  There are a couple of minor lags once in a while, but not really during gameplay.  And earlier, where I thought there were slight slowdowns, they turned out to be the same on my g6.  i was just being overly-critical of the supercard lite I think.

On Mario & Luigi Partners in Time, Sometimes when the action is loading up on the bottom screen, between areas, it seems to take a second longer than I remember on the g6Lite, but I must stress that during gameplay it's fine.

So far, I'd say it really is better than all the other supercards for performance (streaming.  patching rom to supercard memory is the same as always, which is good).  It is better than supercard SD with a 133x card that I used to have.  It's on par with M3 4xDMA, and g6 Lite (or close enough, anyway)

but[/i] when they get cheaper, I'm still gonna get a faster microSD...  just to really make the most of the supercard lite.  I have already ordered a supposedly 66x microSD from hong kong, and it should be here in less than a week, or about a week.

You ordered a product which no manufacturer has advertised as existing.... from Hong Kong.  Adventurous, aren't we! :P

AnalogMan

Not to mention they need to research their product more. It's NOT compatabile with NDS and they say no flashing is neccassary and only recommend the Superkey, thy don't say you need to do one or the other to play NDS homebrew.

Lol, about the memory.

Once microSD's come out in 60X or higher speeds with 2GB capacities I am all over the DS Lite and the SuperCard Lite! I just can't go back to having 1GB from my 2GB miniSD SC. The SuperCard Lite is a great improvement over the last in terms of flash memory bandwidth. I would still love to know how they get a 12X card to read the Castlevania video at full speed? Thats amazing and I wish there was a way to enable it in the older SuperCards. Hey, maybe there is but they are keeping it on the down low to sell the new "Lite" version. ;)
