Does anybody know, how good the homebrew compatibility is on the DSLink? Are scummDS, beup messenger, etc. working?

Got my DSLink English version yesterday =) Here's some (crappy) pics. I don't have a microSD card yet so I can't test the UI.

It's been confirmed that they're not using tin boxes for the English version. Doesn't really matter anyways.

Congrats. :) I'm still waiting on my DSLink. UPS tracking shows it's been sitting in Louisville, KY for almost a week. Damn UPS/customs. :(

sonicwind

since the new update is out can someone tell me if anymore homebrew or games etc. work now?

ImmortalNinja

Well got back from holiday today and to my joy many boxes were waiting for me on my desk, with my DS-link, G6 and rumble pack (as well as some other comics and stuff)

Had a quick play and well I like the DS-Link and G6 but think the SuperCard is best.

Overall the process of getting the games onto both the DS-Link and G6 takes too long (compared to the SC), as well as the time it takes to boot up games.

The Rumble pack works fine with the DS-link (tried with Metroid) and well....meh...the little buzz of vibration isnt really worth it and the noise is just annoying.
The memory limit of the G6 does seem a bit limited now, I didnt think it would be....and that would be one of the major downs of the DS-X.

I know some people want the UI of the SC to be updated but I dont think it really needs it. Its perfectly good and fast to get games started.

So for me Supercard wins out in its ease and fast usage.

On another note, you cant use these products at the same time.
I'd hoped to have the DS-Link/SC combo in one DS and the DS-X/G6 combo in the other.
However the DS will default boot to slot-2 and the DS-link isnt recogised in the DS-Slot when select is held to boot to the DS menu....
Ah well.....
I'll let you guys know how the power tests go.

My DSLink finally arrived and it's the English version!  What a pleasant surprise.  It sure took UPS a long ass time to get it from Louisville, KY to Las Vegas, NV though.  :?  I can't blame HopeBuy because it was sent Express and should have only taken a couple of days to get to me.

I'm going to play with my new toy now.  :)

I have successfully converted a Supercard .sav file to a working DSLink .sav file.  I did this with a binary editor using block cut and paste.  For some reason the DSlink .sav files are 520 KB, compared to the Supercard 256 KB .sav files.  If I find some constancy among different game saves, 128Mbit, 512Mbit, 1Gbit, etc, I'll program a command line utility to convert them.

You can import savs using the "Import Saver" option when right clicking on a ROM in the dslink patcher, works great for supercard savs.

bitblt

Crap, I didn't notice that option. Well that was 20 minutes of trial and error wasted.

UPDATE:
Ironically the only save file that I could not get DSlink to import correctly was Mech Assault, the same original Supercard save I was able to convert manually.
