I had a flash advance card and I copied the .sav files from it to my pc...will these work on my supercard or do I have to start over?

Should work just fine.  I have a bunch of .sav files from my EZFlash 1 cart that work fine on the Supercard.  Just rename the .sav files to whatever the output ROM name that the Supercard software gives your GBA ROMs.

You can also import your VBA or flash-card .SAV files into the Supercard software - I should add this to the FAQ about saving games!

Open up the Supercard software
Select "Add" and pick a ROM
Right-click on the ROM and select "Properties."
Under the "Enable Save" check-box, there is a box labeled: "Import Saver from File:"
Click the "..." next to the saver import box and select the .SAV file you want to associate with your ROM.
Then click "OK" to close the Properties window.
Click "Out" in the main Supercard window to patch your ROM and generate your .SAV and .SCI files.

Hmmm...PharoahAmps' steps are dead-on for exporting a .sav file to the SuperCard.

When you try, do you get an error in the software, or does it just give the "complete" message?  I'd try again, and even make sure your ROM is not corrupt or overdumped (use GBA-Renamer first, then GoodGBA, if necessary).  You may even want to download a .sav file from someplace like GameFAQs to see if you can get any save files with any ROMs to export properly to your SuperCard.

And if you still can't get your save to work, you can send me the .sav file (or post it on a free site like Geocities or File Shack or something) and I'll test it on my copy for you.

Hmmm.....it looks like your .sav file is the problem. :(

When I load the .sav file into VBA (using both an American and a European copy of the ROM), it comes up completely blank (no games in progress to load).  The conclusion I make, therefore, is that the SuperCard and SuperCard software are working fine; they're just importing and using a blank .sav file.

Where did the save originate?  Is it from an emulator like VBA, or from another flash card?  If it's the former, does the save file still work in the emulator?  If it's the latter, could you copy the .sav file from your PC back to the other card to see if it still works on the flash card?  If you are successful in either situation, there is definite hope for your save.

However, I have a feeling that either the save file was saved in a non-standard format (odd...), was not exported well, or your save data somehow got erased during your whole process.

the .sav is from an original rom..maybe is that the problem? im going to save the .sav to the comp one more time and ill post the link to it asap.

ok here is the sav. file

if i open it in notepad its not empty.. :(

i hope its gonna work. thnx!

Diablo

It's not empty in NotePad because the file must be formatted in order to retain data.

Anyway, this one has no saves on it either.  I really don't know what to tell you.  How are you exporting the save file to your PC?  What hardware and software?  Maybe there's a specific setting or procedure involved that you are forgetting.  At least, I'd hope that's what it is...

thnx for your help and ill see ya around on the forum..

So, before we continue:  have you tried playing the game on your EZ Flash II lately?  I have a feeling the battery in it ran dry, and erased all your saves (something the EZ Flash II is reknowned for).

Else, I'd try a different method of extracting the save (I believe EZDriver is another option, among others).  But I'm betting it's your battery...

i use the software etc. but the mario and luigi is an ORIGINAL cart from the shops

Diablo

Well, I finally got my GBA back today, and your save loaded up as blank on my SuperCard as well (by adding it manually, as well as through the SuperCard software).  I even tested the European release, just in case.

I don't know what to tell you. :?:

Maybe you can Google your problem, or check for another forum that covers exporting battery files from a retail cart.  I wish you the best of luck in your journey for answers.
