Sorry for being such a noob however I was curious to find out if the top screen of the old ds can serve as a replacement for the top screen of the ds lite. The reason why I am asking is because I have an old ds which has both screens intact, the problem with the old ds is that it does not charge. Since it does not work any longer I would like to use its parts to fix a ds lite. The ds lite has a cracked top screen. So would I be able to simply remove the old ds top screen and place it inside the ds lite. I know there are brightness differences however as long as the ds lite could work then I would be extremely happy. Also would the bottom screen of the old ds fit the ds lite. And if not would anyone happen to know where I could find ds lite parts (looked on ebay haven't found any yet). Thank you all in advance for any help which his received

Hmm... that's a tough call.  I know for sure that there is a version of the Phat DS which has the inner workings of a DSL, including a brightness adjusting chip. I'm not suggesting you have this, since this is only on very recent DS systems..  My point is that from what I've heard the only thing different between the DS Phat without brightness adjustment and the one WITH brightness adjustment is that one chip.  So it's very possible that they're interchangeable.

Nintendo figures from now on, why manufacture two boards when we can save money by manufacturing just one and disabling a feature?  Graphics card manufacturers do that all the time... Get a Geforce 6 GTO and you can unlock so many extra features it's worth twice its original price!

Damn thanks . I'll open the borken DS and examine it. I have done some research and it does seem like they would be able to fit. I'll check it out in the coming week. Thanks alot man.

Yeah, I softmodded my Geforce 6200 into a Geforce 6600, overclocked it a bit and now its running like a 6600GT. Like u said, worth more than twice the price
