Trim rom = take away filler from the rom, for instance the game code may take 2MB but the smallest chip size for the carts is 8MB or 16MB , so enabling saves a shed load of space .. always have it on unless a particular rom plays up because of it (I  know of none that play up for me), I always have it on.

Enable GBA union = if a DS game has a special feature (new level, a extra character ect) that can only be unlocked by having it's sister GBA game in the GBA slot, this emulates that feature ... example is Rockman. Apparently this works for some games that have this feature but not others. If you activate this , you must have the apropriate clean (unpatched) GBA rom named the same as the ds rom in the same directory apart from the extension .. so game.gba .. I never used it so maybe someone else can help more.

Faster Gameplay = AFAIK  a boost or high speed mem card access.. always have this on, unless a particular game has aproblem with it (only game I know of is M&L PIT (EUR) version which requires patcher 2.51 with fastgameplay and IN Game Reset off)

Enable compress= this is a GBA rom option, this hasn't worked for the last few patchers, but going back to earlier patchers you can enable this for GBA roms to be stored in a zipped form on you're memory card.. thus saving space. There is a trade off in the speed it loads into the SC GBA memory.

excuse my bad literacy (bet I spelt that wrong :D ) ,but hopefully this has helped some understnd these options .... rule of thumb is to have all 3 DS options on unless a particular problem occurs. Not all agree with me, but try for you're self and see what suits you best.

Trim rom: trims off excess data on roms resulting in a small file size. Some roms get alot of data trimmed off. Some don't.

Enable GBA Union: Some NDS games such as Castlevania and Rockman ZX aloow you to unlock special items in game if you have a certain GBA cart in the slot. Well this option "trick" the NDS into thinking that you have a gba cart in the slot. You will need to use a clean, unpatched gba rom and rename it the same as the NDS rom. eg. Castelvania DS.nds.dsq + Castlevania DS.gba

Faster Gameplay: Loads NDS roms QUICKLY

Enable Compress: Compresses GBA roms so that the file size is smaller. It takes the compressed roms a little longer to load up. The option has been disabled in recent software because there is a problem with it.

If you ask me, the GBA union thing is pretty pointless, the most useless option in a long time.
If each mistake being made is a new one, then progress is being made.

So, Enable Restart, Enable Trim ROM, and Faster Play Game should all be enabled, and don't cause problems with any existing games.  Yes?  So far so good.  Enable GBA Union is mostly useless, but could be cool for a couple of games, and apparently no one knows what iQue Game is for.  :P

Just to fill in the blanks here, How about Saver patch and ROM Position Patch?  Saver patch lets you shoose between saving the game to your SD/CF card or the DS Card itself (?) and ROM Position Patch is where you can tell it to load the rom TO the Supercard to launch the game from there, resulting in a slower load, but tending to fix a game that isn't working correctly?  Is that right?

What exactly is this brand new option for?  "Enable patch Cartridge access".  I know it's there because of Starfox, and I presume it should only be enabled if a game isn't working correctly, but what does it do that's different from ROM Position Patch?
