RHS couldn't be matched by Kick Trading

I recently tried to get a price match from my local Canadian Supercard reseller, Kick Trading.  After sending them an itemized list of how much I'd be paying and all the references they'd need to verify my amounts, they said they wouldn't match the price.

In short, I said my total cost would be approximately $53 or something, including shipping and everything else.  Kick Trading said they'd reduce their price to $55 and still expect me to pay shipping and taxes!

Feeling a bit peeved by their horrible customer service after this experience, I was kind enough to forward KickTrading a copy of my paid invoice for my SCL order from RealHotStuff.  Maybe this'll help them realize customer service is what matters most.

So, a hearty endorsement for RealHotStuff.  I was so pleased with my experience that I even ordered the MicroSD bundle, even though I could've most certainly saved a few bucks by doing my usual aggressive shopping around.

Does Kick do price matching?  I couldn't find that on their website.

At any rate, they don't have to price match, although it would be nice.  I ordered stuff rom Kick and they were very good to me.  My package got lost in the mail and they sent me another one.

I just ordere some stuff from RHS for the first time, I haven't received it yet.

I've done business with Kick Trading before too.  Bought my original SC-CF from them.

It doesn't matter if they officially have the policy, IMO.  At the end of the day, if you wan't beat or at least match your competitors' pricing, consumers take their business elsewhere.  Go into any retail outlet, tell them the price a competitor is selling something for and then ask if they want your business.  They almost universally cave and give you a better price, because (having owned a store myself) it's all about moving inventory.  If you can move more inventory, the manufacturer gives you better deals and you can make larger orders and the process continues.  Even if you only break even on a sale, it's still good for business.  It generates repeat business and customer loyalty.

You really can't take anything expensive at the advertised price... if you do, you're wasting a lot of money your whole life.  For instance, I was in Futureshop today, looking for a new TV.  I found one I liked, asked to see the manager, and got $200 taken off the price (of $699) as well as a 0-interest payment program.  Then I told him, I don't want one off the shelf, I want the display unit.  I can see that it works perfectly.  And also, no, I don't want it delivered. ^^

they do have it officially: http://www.kicktrading.ca/lowest_price.php

But regardless, I think they'd still have to tax it even if they matched it both on shipping and product. It's the law. So you'd have to pay RHS's price + 15% (if you're in Ontario). This is why I just went with RHS.

I really don't expect a company to wave all shipping fees, but if they say they will match a price as they have with me prior to shipping, I am cool with that. They don't have to match at all especially with the shortage of sclites in the market

Here is the email I recieved on Aug 11th along with my email at the below it

I would have ordered either way as they are the only ones with the sclite at the time and like the past service.

I agree with btvsrocks, you would have to pay the tax anyways.

Order where you like, at the moment kicktrading is out of stock, so that pretty much takes care of that choice for you, hopefully realhot has them in and are not all spoken for. Thankfully it is your money and you have many a choice.

I see you bought the screen protectors and the pens.  I also bought both of them and the screen protectors you cant even see their on their and the extendable pen is just awsome.   I tried price matcing with kicktrading once but they said the other shop had their shipping price realy high so  they didnt match it.

When I asked them I said nothing about shipping. In fact when I purchased the first SC SD, earlier this year they went on sale afterwards and they refunded the difference from their original price. I would never expect them to match shipping, but I only think they should match authorized dealers  prices (I think realhotstuff does the same thing). Shipping is not their problem, but that sucks for you.

I am glad to hear that the screen protectors are not crap, and I couldn't pass up on the extendable pen.

If a company won't match their final sale price (everything included) with another company's final sale price (everything included), what motivation do I have to buy from them?  See what I mean?  My final price from kick trading would've been $15 higher than RHS!

It sounds like you got a great deal, but like I said a couple posts above kicktrading matched my price and had them in stock while realhot did not have in stock plain and simple. I was happy to save the 13.55 I saved but that would not have made me not buy it as it is only 13.55 which will not make or break me (whats that 3-4 coffees at starbucks).

It is simplistic to think companies from different countries will match shipping charges. They will match final product prices. I would like you to see the company from HK (cant remember name but high shipping charge) match shipping prices.

If you guys are going to talk about other online retailers, do you mind moving this topic to other boards? It's not that I do not allow others to be mentioned, but this is supposed to be the board that I can provide better communication with members here and this topic is obviously has nothing to do with it. So, can we stop the topic or move this somewhere else?

I don't want to be mean, but I check the board very often and I would like to see members' comments about RHS here, good or bad is okay with me. I just do not want to waste my time checking posts here that are not in my best interests.

Sorry guys.
