Defective Supercard CF?

Sorry to be a bother but I'm wondering if the Supercard CF I just received might be defective, or if I might have screwed something up.

When I got it last week, it seemed to have trouble detecting the CF card (SanDisk 256mb).  When I turned it on, I would get an error screen saying 'not find the CF Please turn off GBA'.  This seemed to happen with more regular occurance until the past few days when I can't seem to get the card to work at all.

When I perform the diagnosis (holding L+R on start up), I get the following messages...

---

Test SRAM
SRAM ok!

Test sdram
sdram ok!

Test flash
flash id ok!
flash ok!

Test CF
CF error:
error code:05 CF state:50

Now SC Version:1.63
---

The CF card I'm using works just fine through both my computer's USB Card reader, and in my GBA Movie Player.

Sorry for the length of the post, but I wanted to be descriptive to prevent confusion.  I wanted to see if there is something that could be done otherwise saving me the trouble of sending the unit back for an exchange.

Thank you for your time and help

Sounds like you have a bad card. Try using another CF card in it to see if it works. If not, I'd send it back for an exchange.

Is it formatted in FAT ? because windows will format it to FAT32 by default . . check in the properties and if it is FAT32 use the windows format in the tools tab of the properties but remember to cahnge the format to FAT insteas FAT32 in the drop-down list.

The Supercards need a FAT formatted memory card to function correctly
Yes I'm mad

Thank you for your help.

The CF in question had been formated with a FAT library, as otherwise another error is given (regarding the requirement of a FAT library).

I'm writing a letter now to my distributer with the defective card.  I've otherwise had fine service from them and hope to get a new one soon.  They have sent me an email outlining the requirements for the return already.

Again thank you for your help

To refrain from double-posting, a quick update on my situation.  Apparently the dealer I got my SCCF from says they are now discontinued, but that I may get another type of SC instead.

Just to ask, is there a terribly big difference in compatability between the CF and SD versions of the Supercard, also to be worth the trouble of getting a new reader and memory card for?  Or should I ask to get my money back and see if I can get a CF version elsewhere?

What does this particular error code mean?

state: 00 is when there is no CF in the SC
state: 51 is when the CF is corrupt or unreadable

so what's going on with state 50?

All of my CF cards are showing up code 50 even though they are fine!

I used flashMP to change back to firmware 1.52 (I was on 1.63) and it ALMOST worked, but I upgraded AGAIN to 1.63 like an IDIOT and have the same problem again. CF state:50
