Your favorite Supercard?

I guess this poll would be more suited toward people that own (or have owned) more than one model SC. I personally have owned every model, but one in particular is my favorite. The Supercard miniSD. Let me explain why:

I originally ordered a SC SD about a year ago. Great card yes, but it was a tight fit, and it didn't help that you had to take the card in and out to insert the SD card. I do have to say that it became smoother and smoother to insert and remove as time went on.

I then ordered a CF model, as I did like the fact that it did not need to be removed to insert a card. AND, it had no slowdown in the Castlevania intro....the CF version is indeed faster. BUT, the card sticks out, badly. I was always worried about it when my wife would be playing "Bomberman", laying on the couch, and pressing the CF card into her stomach while holding the DS!

Then, I ordered the miniSD. WOW! Front loading, no apparent slowdowns that I can see, smooooth insert into the slot (like a regular GBA cart), feels very sturdy built. It does stick out some, but only on the DS Lite...and I can completely live with it.

Finally, I ordered the SC Lite. VERY sturdy feel to this baby. Front loading microSD. Cool. But, I really did not like the fact that the unit was so thick so that it gets stuck in the unit...I mean REALLY stuck. It is almost like the card becomes one with the DS Lite after it is inserted. I could imagine there are quite a few people that still can not get it out. Aside that, it is nice and flush, and a great performer. No slowdowns I can see on DS games here either. I did have some problems with the unit seeing the microSD a few times, but after removing and reinserting, it worked just fine. I personally do not like microSD cards tho. Way to small for my tastes. It's like playing "Operation" when going through the process of removing the card, popping it in an adapter, and then the reader to get some games over. I purchased a Sandisk microSD reader to make the hassle less, but still...darn small. Could be a good thing for some people, but does not float my boat honestly.

There you have it. I choose the Supercard miniSD as my absolute favorite model. Actually, out of all of my cards, my preferred choice for DS and DS  homebrew playback. So, what's yours?

Did you not read why I choose what I did? Your comparison sounds as if we should just be selecting the model that sits completely flush in the given device? I say:

original ds=scmini
ds lite=scmini

Also, I forgot to add something into my post that *may* be important to some migrating from a Supercard SD. The miniSD uses the same patching software, while the microSD uses a different version. Not a big deal, but it will mean repatching roms for the micro.

Hmmm I guess this is a nice place to post my dilema.  I have a Supercard Mini SD, and I love it.  It is just that when I bring out my DSL, it just looks so weird with a purple thing sticking out.  I wanted to buy the Supercard Lite, then people are saying that it is a really tight fit, which I'm not that happy about.  Then I wanted the M3 Lite, but then saw that it saves weird, you have to save the next time you boot it up.  I have the necessary money, but after money is money and you can't get enough of it.  So my problem is, what should I do, stick with my SC MSD, get the SCL, or get the M3L?

The SuperCard Lite has the best performance of all of the SuperCard's so I can't understand why others are choosing older versions?

Just because it performs better doesn't mean it's our favorite. My favorite is the SC CF. I've had 3 of them. 8)

Why is the SC CF your favorite? Just curious

sonicwind

and pharoas if you get a scl you won't need to take it out ever.  So just stick it in once and never have to take it out.  Or maybe if you've already waited this long get a ds link or something since you flash your ds's

the only supercard ive had is a CF so i would have to say the SCCF & even if i got a DSLite i still would not change it
i even had to split it in half when i bent a pin in it but i still would not get rid of it (well unless it totally died)

khan

I used to own SC CF and now i have myself a SC Lite which i really like.

so i voted for lite.

IMHO, this poll is kinda b.s. The reason I say that is not out of meanness but if you have never owned all of the products, how could you pass judgement on the ones you didn't own. I have a SC SD and a SClite, What makes those better than the SC mini or SC CF? People are only going to vote for the one they own, not necessarily the best.

sneef

i have all of them.  i like sclite the best for commercial stuff, and scminiSD best for homebrew...

Zygarth

I own a sc sd, but I have to say that the lite and miniSD versions do have an edge over the SD an CF.

Get the SCL, after putting it in and taking it out a few times is comes out alot easier.

I don't own a SC Lite yet, but I do own a SCCF, SCSD, and SC miniSD.  I'm going to have to go with SCCF for best performance.  My daughter prefers SC miniSD in her DS Lite.  I've gotten used to the SCCF and SCSD sticking out and use them as a brace when holding the DS.  I'm definitely interested in getting a SC Lite, with CF performance in a compact package. I'm going to wait a little while longer before I buy.
